It has been a slow summer and now things are really picking up. There are so many things on our calendar so don t forget to go to the website to check out the activities. It has been a good summer so far except for the fact that we lost one of our beloved members, Al Choppe. Those of you who knew him knew what a kind and wonderful man he was and he will be sorely missed. CKCC had his memorial on Saturday, September 19 th, we caravanned to the port with a friend of Al s, Rick, driving Al s C5 white convertible as the lead and went to the new boat ramp at the port. We had a Champagne toast as his son Todd took Al s, Al s wife and son s ashes out to sea. It was a wonderful send off and last caravan for such a deserving CKCC member. Thanks to all

2 who participated and made it something Al would have loved. On Saturday September 5 th we had another mystery cruise with 29 cars and almost 60 members that went to Vero Beach. We ended up at a nice little restaurant called Mrs. Mac s Filling Station on Old Dixie Highway. If you were not able to attend and you are down that way it is well worth the stop for great food and a very cool place. We then went to Orchid Island Brewery out on the beach side in a very nice downtown area and unfortunately most of the shops closed before we got there but another nice place to go if you are down in that area, it is on Ocean Avenue and is a beautiful ride on A1A. I understand the members that went to the NCCC convention had a great time and hopefully will tell us a little bit about it at the next meeting. CKCC won 2 nd place in the website competition and a big thanks to George and Kristy Halkovic for all the work they have put in on the site. We were told that in 2017 the convention will be in Bowling Green again so there is a possibility of having a club trip up there, it is something we will have to talk about and get a committee together to make the arrangements. Also another thing coming up in 2017 is CKCC s 50 th anniversary, we will also have to have a committee to work on this. It seems a little early to talk about these things but they sometimes can take up to a year to plan and with the way time is going by it will be here before we know it!
