1 Certificate in Socially Responsible Finance Course 2015/16
2 Day in and day out the central question for every bank, for the entire banking sector and for every customer of a bank should be: What kind of future do we want to bring into this world? Horst Köhler, former President of and former IWF Director We need to find answers to this question and reflect on the changes needed for a more sustainable and socially responsible finance sector - but opportunities to do this in educational settings are rare. Therefore we developed this course and set up a partnership between the Institute for Social Banking, the educational training centre Alanus Werkhaus and Alanus University. All of them have a passion and long experience in education and research for socially responsible finance. You are......a professional in banking or finance who wants to acquire and deepen your knowledge and competency in responsible banking practice, and to understand finance as a service to people and the real economy. develop and advance self-awareness, values based communication and management capacities in order to manage challenges and change on personal and organisational level deepen knowledge, explore and reflect on the backgrounds, developments and the future of socially responsible banking and finance from multiple perspectives a lively and critical discussion about money and bank business in the light of the great challenges in our society; mutual learning as a common activity to get to know and work with cultural differences; thinking out of the box and practising behaviours for the future; a good mixture of academics and experts from the field to provide depth in content; deep and attentive reflection on individual, institutional or societal levels as a method for continuous personal development; building a learning and research community with participants as well as lectures; Degree...a professional who designs and manages processes of dialogue and change....involved in transformative processes and would like to reflect and discuss monetary aspects of transformation. learn about and practice values based dialogue and decision making processes further develop your personal and cultural skills become part of a network of experts/ change makers across socially responsible banking and finance You want to... Particular features The Certificate in Socially Responsible Finance is able to contribute to a personal development process which I consider very important. The participants each in their own way have benefited from the course and use what they have learned. Caroline Panum, Head of HR and Client Relations, Merkur, Denmark Certificate from the ISB and the Alanus Werkhaus. In addition each module can be awarded with 4 ECTS points on request which will be credited for the MA Business Administration programme at the Alanus University. encouragement and guidance to explore creative resources (like drawing, acting or movement) as practical ways of artful knowing. Language The course language is English. CEF Level B is sufficient. (Please contact us if you are interested in a German version of the course.)
3 Stucture and content The course consists of two 5 day modules (Monday to Friday) totalling 10 days attendance plus self-learning periods, pre-reading and a change project. 4 I have been participating in the Certificate in Social Banking course in 2012/2013. During the course I have broadened my insight in the Social Banking movement in the world. It is nice to realize, that my bank is a player in a very important network. It is also very challenging to discuss the difference between ordinary banks and social banks. I can recommend the course I have learned a lot also on a personal level. Be part of a growing community and join the next Certificate in Socially Responsible Finance! Ann Hybertz Frandsen, Head of Communication Merkur, Denmark As an employee of a commercial bank, the Certificate has allowed me to be confronted with topics that I would normally not question and has given me the appropriate context to address the many facets of money and its impact on society and the environment. I am excited about the information we got, the friendships that were made and about the satisfying feeling of finally taking part in addressing the many issues that the world is facing at the moment. For all those for whom such a program is possible, I would greatly recommend it! Victor Ceban (Uni Credit, Vienna, Austria)
