1 PRESS RELEASE NO Iconic Awards: the jury has chosen the winners Frankfurt am Main, 10 July 2014 Following a comprehensive assessment of high-quality submissions, the expert jury selected the winners of this year s Iconic Awards on June 12, The German Design Council s cross-disciplinary architectural competition took place for the second time this year and honored a total of 48 submissions from numerous high-quality entries with the highest award Best of Best. Furthermore, endowed special prizes were awarded: the Kunstmuseum Ahrenshoop (Volker Staab Architekten) received the distinction Project of the Year; the SPARK office was honored with the accolade Architects of the Year; the jury selected John Pawson Ltd as Interior Designers of the Year. The honorary prize Architects Client of the Year went to the association kultur krumbach. The great success of the 2014 Iconic Awards demonstrates that there is a sustained demand for an architectural competition, which honors the interaction of the disciplines through a holistic approach. The outstanding submissions, a strongly growing public interest and the increasingly international character of the competition, have already established the Iconic Awards as a benchmark in their second year of existence, notes Andrej Kupetz, General Manager of German Design Council. The award ceremony for the 2014 Iconic Awards will take place on October 6 during the Expo Real trade fair at the BMW-Welt in Munich. The Best of Best awards for individual competition categories, as well as special prizes and the honorary prize will be presented as part of the award ceremony. Iconic Awards With the Iconic Awards the German Design Council focuses on outstanding, holistic architecture and interior design. As an international competition, which considers the interaction of various disciplines, the Iconic Awards provide the entire world of architecture with a forum. Participants compete in the categories Architecture, Interior,, Communication and Concept, as well as in the special categories Architects of the Year, Interior Designers of the Year and Project of the Year. In addition, the honorary prize Architects Client of the Year is awarded. 1/2
