Sustainable integrated planning of GreenBuildings Best practice of Sustainable Green Corporate Architecture with Energy Efficiency & Renewables Does Green Building pay? Danish decisions and German experiences Green Building Council Denmark and AHK in Copenhagen the Charlotte Juhl Koch & Jürgen Koch Dipl.- Ing. architect BDA / VDI Koch Architekten 4greenArchitecture Germany koch@kocharchitekten.com Member of Charman of the Technical Division Architecture (VDI) Association of German Engineers ENDORSER

% % % % 30% in cities 50% in cities 65% in cities 70% in cities - more people - larger cities - more consumption and prosperity - more energy and CO²- emissions - today more than 40% CO² from buildings we have to act, now! we need sustainable buildings with energy efficiency and renewables we need plus-energy-buildings CO² neutral
In 2022 Germany will close down their last nuclear power plant in operation!
Green Building Integrated Planning Integrated Energy Design (IED) Our team of architects and engineers from Germany together with local Danish Partners develop individual solutions from the very first draft to the optimization of the building, even in operation. All in close dialogue with our clients.
A good idea - but not enough! new aims - new concepts - new face Architecture / Design & Technology Solar Car Generation
SUSTAINABILITY Balance between: Ecology Economy Social aspects
Building Certification & Eco-Rating In 2011 the Green Building Council Denmark opted for the German certification system for sustainable buildings, DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council). The system is now being adapted to local Danish conditions and shall secure a common standard for the planning and evaluation of buildings in Denmark in future, but also aim for Denmark to fulfill the EU regulations by 2020.
But. why is local & internationally adaptable Building Certification(s) needed?
Eco-Rating Energy Efficiency & Sustainable building How big is your demand per m².?.. and your carbon foot print?

Environmental Awareness and Sustainable Consumption Climate neutral lifestyle: Consumers off to a good start in climate protection = LOHAS (Lifestyle of Health and Sustainability-
LOHAS LOHAS are consumers and a target group passionated about: The planet, environment, social issues, health, about human rights, relationships, fair trade, sustainable practices, peace, spiritual and personal development. They tend to make their purchasing decisions in keeping with their values of social and environmental responsibility. They can afford living what they believe in as they are mostly well educated and have a reasonable income. Part of their conviction and life (style) is: Sustainable Living & Working with Environmental Commitment A 245 billion market segment in the United States (growth app. 10%a/y) - A 375 billion market worldwide (estimated to represent approximately 40% of the population in a very few years to come).

Sustainability starts more than 300 years ago in the German forestry The forest is therefore deap implemented in the Germans heart. 1. Price 2010 Expo Real One of the biggest Carbon Eater in the World! That s why the tree is Germany s symbol of Sustainability
Sustainable Forestry International Year of Forest + UN COP 17 in Durban (South Africa) end of 2011 In Germany the same business volume as the automobile business, 160 Mrd. /year Sustainable Forestry Education & Jobs Houses & wooden Products

Energy Efficiency & Renewables DGNB gold
Renewable solutions like integrated photovoltaic help regulating light and heat input + serve for thermal insulation
Turn over + 20% IED, Integrated Energy Design The Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) modules were integrated into the front glass roof.the customer gets aware of the renewable energy supply and the sustainable, esthetical approach. In this way photovoltaic / renewables turn into a visible symbol of Sustainability a marketing tool, raising Awareness too.
435 Tons of CO2 Emission savings A 12 meter high tree was planted in front of the supermarket as a symbol of Sustainability and a link to the origin of the wooden constrution and use of wood based materials.
