2 CT.Jobs User Guide This User Guide will walk you through the many features of Connecticut s Employment Exchange, CT.jobs. You can acess CT.jobs directly by going to or through the Department of Labor s website by clicking on the CT.jobs icon. Department of Labor s Website - The icon to link to CT.jobs can be found at the bottom of the Department of Labor s website. Note: if the icon is not visible, use the arrows to scroll. 2 P a g e

3 CT.jobs Homepage Note: You can click the Home link anytime to get back to this screen. Start searching for jobs by using keywords (job titles) and/or city, state or zip code. Note: Use quotes for job titles with more than one word. Once you complete the required fields, click FIND JOBS. Click the drop down menu to search for jobs using other categories. Categories are: Occupation, Military, Company or Job I.D. Note: Recruitment flyers and printed postings usually have a 9 digit Job I.D. Enter this number to quickly find the posting. 3 P a g e

4 After you click Find Jobs you will find all of the related job postings. Total number of jobs found. Click on the job titles to open the posting and application. Up to 10 postings listed on a page. Share jobs through or social media. 4 P a g e

5 Too many? Too Few? Use the filters to make your job search more precise. The filters are Location, Company, Time Range, Occupation Title, Posted By and Industry. The range of the search can be adjusted from 5 to 300 miles. Start closer to home then increase the range. After you choose your filters, click here. Toggle the circles to expand or minimize the filter. Click 1 day back to find the latest jobs. 5 P a g e

6 Create Job Seeker Account Create an account to post your résumé or set up an automated job search. Click here to start. Choose a username Use a PROFESSIONAL address for the best results. Example: first.lastname@ .com 6 P a g e

7 Complete the registration form... Note: Make sure to use, proper spelling and case, and complete names. Keep track of your password and security question. Click CREATE ACCOUNT when you are finished. 7 P a g e

9 Select your résumé settings Select the type of employers that can view your résumé. If you choose to keep your information confidential, employers will contact you through an from US.jobs. Choose résumé entry method. Log in weekly and update Potential Start Date to 1-2 weeks in the future. This will keep your résumé at the top of an employer s search results and show you are still seeking employment. State of Connecticut Job Examinations Page Some state jobs require an exam before you can apply for them. The exam can be a completed HR-12 application, or require a written or physical exam. The exam type depends on the job requirements. In either case, you will receive a letter indicating your score.
