The Hartree Centre is a collaboration between STFC and IBM, funded by BIS, to develop supercomputing software to accelerate research and innovation. Hardware available includes a BlueGene/Q with 98,304 cores and data intensive systems providing a total of 1.8Pflops, more than 5PB of disk, and visualisation facilities. The presentation will report on projects including de novo sequence assembly of difficult genomes, DFT and QM/MM simulations for molecular dynamics and virtual screening, and computer aided formulation. It will discuss big data applications including the Large Hadron Collider project and the Square Kilometer Array and discuss the relevance of this capability for future Real World Evidence projects.
