The Hartree Centre is a collaboration between STFC and IBM, funded by BIS, to develop supercomputing software to accelerate research and innovation. Hardware available includes a BlueGene/Q with 98,304 cores and data intensive systems providing a total of 1.8Pflops, more than 5PB of disk, and visualisation facilities. The presentation will report on projects including de novo sequence assembly of difficult genomes, DFT and QM/MM simulations for molecular dynamics and virtual screening, and computer aided formulation.
