12 Helping you manage your premises Grounds maintenance and associated services Comprehensive range of grounds maintenance and horticultural services which can be tailored to individual schools requirements Maintenance, marking, repair and reinstatement of sports pitches and athletic tracks Landscaping projects including, hard landscaping, fencing, decking and decorative surfacing Playground repair, inspection and construction Simon Legg Pest Control Programmed monthly rodent inspections at a convenient time, by in house pest control operative Infections controlled using professional rodenticide baits in appropriate baiting stations, replenished as required. 13 Enhancing your services for parents and pupils Independent admission & exclusion appeals We provide a professional, efficient and comprehensive independent school admission and exclusion appeal service in compliance with the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 and the School Admissions Appeal Code We will: Arrange for independent panel hearings to take place for each appeal received within the required timescale Liaise with parents, schools and panel members on the date, time and venue for each hearing Administer and distribute the necessary documentation to all concerned parties within the required timescale following receipt of the appropriate appeal form Clerk the panel appeal hearings Provide advice to all concerned parties in writing of the panel s decision and advise on the process of appeal against it Provide advice to parents, schools and panel members on procedure and Admissions Law Liz Hall l.hall@poole.gov.uk Preparing & presenting admission appeals To research and prepare admission appeal statements (including appendices and maps) in liaison with the school/academy for each appeal within the required timescale To attend the admission appeal and present the case on behalf of the school/academy Angie Hill a.hill@poole.gov.uk poole.gov.uk/servicestoschools 13
14 Enhancing your services for parents and pupils Free school meals applications management Issuing application forms and other information regarding the eligibility criteria for free school meals and pupil premium Assessing the eligibility of individual families for free school meals and/or pupil premium Notifying families and schools of their entitlement, rechecking entitlement on a termly basis and issuing updated lists of entitled children to schools. Linda Gibbs l.gibbs@poole.gov.uk Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) support & training This service aims to provide comprehensive support and guidance to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) teams specifically to: Support schools in fulfilling their legal responsibilities, and ensure they are kept regularly updated Develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed by EYFS staff in fulfilling their roles and responsibilities Keep Head Teachers and EYFS Leaders informed of current legislative changes and educational developments that may affect their work The service is offered at one of two levels: Superior and Basic. Each service is a school package. The level to be purchased should be determined by the EYFS Leader in consultation with the Head Teacher according to their development and support needs. 15 Monitoring school meals provision (primary only) Service is offered at one of three levels. For example the Gold service provides access to: Termly reviews with your chosen school meals provider, or as necessary to ensure menus meet the specified Education Regulations 2014 (Nutritional Standards and Requirements for School Food /England), problems identified have been resolved and services are being delivered to agreed contract Annual school visit to carry out quality assurance checks of food preparation, serving and staffs compliance with regulations Full monitoring visit termly Ad hoc visits to schools An annual in-school training session for up to 15 staff covering the basics of food preparation, hygiene, practice and procedures. 16 Enhancing your services for parents and pupils Poole Museum service (primary only) Poole Museum s Subscription Service for schools offer you a range of exclusive benefits and discounts at two levels, gold and silver. We can work with you to create a bespoke package which meets the individual needs of your school. This includes priority booking for a range of historical and natural history workshops at one of our venues or in-school at a special rate and access to loan boxes containing historic artefacts. Other benefits may include: INSET training and detailed advice on curriculum and project planning for history Visits to the museum and use of our ipods Skype and classroom Q&As with one of our historic characters Exclusive previews to exhibitions Project development, advice and assistance with funding applications School assemblies All maintained Poole Schools automatically benefit to the same level as Gold subscribers. 17 Support and advice for physical education (PE) Advice and support to schools based on afpe Safe Practice in PE. First line support by telephone, , newsletter and web. 18 Enhancing your services for parents and pupils Monitoring educational visits advice and support to ensure the planning and organising of learning outside the classroom activities (including policies and procedures, legal requirements, the purpose of the visit, risk benefit analysis, risk assessment, evaluation and monitoring) meet national guidance and standards. Guidance which provides schools with a framework for planning off site visits, together with template forms and guidance on how to complete them. It also provides details of who to contact for help and support, as well as other useful documents and resource information. Assessment and endorsement of arrangements for educational visits, visits abroad and outdoor and adventurous activities. This is done by submitting visit details for checking and assessment by the LA Outdoor Education Adviser. Visits will be assessed to ensure planning and risk assessments are suitable and sufficient. 19 Supporting all other critical services Mail & Courier services We will: Deliver and collect postal items under 5kg up to three times a week during term time to an agreed timetable Deliver mail/documents to local authority establishments within the Borough of Poole We can offer additional services: Advice on how to deal with bulk despatch of mail. Arrangements for the despatch of registered or recorded mail together with special deliveries. Arrangements of a post franking facility for outgoing mail. Receipted internal delivery service for manageable items. Transfer of confidential records between Academy Schools within the Borough of Poole up to three times per year. Supply and collection of white confidential waste sacks and green recycling sacks plus accessories. Bulk delivery and collection of 100+ letters/packages. 20 Supporting all other critical services Legal services We provide a professional, efficient and comprehensive legal service covering all aspects of local authority law including: Children s social services and education such as education supervision orders and child protection. Conveyancing, legal agreements and commercial contracts, and general advice relating to all the school s function such as land acquisitions/disposal, leases, licences, tenancies and other legal agreements, and legal advice on Information Governance in partnership with the Communications, Information & Marketing Team. Court work, advocacy and general advice relating to claims, disputes, complaints and litigation such as employment tribunals, school attendance prosecutions, child employment prosecutions, injunctions and acting for the school in any legal proceedings, and advice over the impact on the school of private family law issues e.g. contact/access/parental responsibility. Ian Turner Internal Audit Our internal audit service consists of an annual assessment in the form of a Health Check financial control review or a full audit programme. Both are designed to provide independent and objective assurance on the operation and effectiveness of the school s financial controls in accordance with the requirements of the Academies financial handbook.
