1 Queensborough Community College Non-teaching Department, Part A Academic Year DEPARTMENT: Academic Literacy Learning Center MISSION The Academic Literacy Learning Center (ALLC) provides course mandated and course nonmandated reading, writing, study skills, technology, and academic service-learning project support to Queensborough Community College students who are enrolled in Academic Literacy courses so that these students exit remediation and enroll in gateway courses in a timely manner. Digitized appointment book; used SharePoint to share files; trained staff on usage Discuss roles of tutors in regard to pay Under the coordination of Jose Holguin, created placement forms for Academic Literacy faculty, and for Queensborough Academic Advisers To provide additional support to students who did not pass their exit exam on their first attempt. To streamline and update workshop registration process. To improve the appointment creation process for the tutoring center (H237). To establish equitable pay among tutors in all learning centers. To aid faculty and advisers in choosing and enrolling in appropriate courses for the summer. Worked with AL students in the spring to help them pass exit exams on second attempt. Efficiently registered 143 students. Efficiently created Starfish for small group tutoring, Reading Reviews, CATW, BE 12, BE17 and BE 18 workshops. Under review. Supported enrollment for summer workshops and courses offered through the Department of Academic Literacy.
