ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION. DIPLOMA IN GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY: A candidate should have passed with 40 % in any group (SC/ST 35%) Minimum and maximum age for admission will be 17 and 35 years respectively. BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (B.SC.,(N) DEGREE) 4 years i) Candidates belonging to all categories eligible for admission to the B.Sc., Degree course in (Basic) should have passed the qualifying examinations. (Academic Stream) after a period of 12 years of study with the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

18 ii) Every candidate, before admission, should submit a medical fitness certificate, from an authorized medical officer stating that the candidate is physically fit to undergo this course, to the Principal of the institution. iii) The minimum educational requirements shall be passing of Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination (12 years course) (Or) Senior School Certificate Examination (10+2), pre-degree Examinations (10+2) (Or) An equivalent study with 12 years schooling from a recognized Board or University with Science (Physics, Chemistry and Biology) with minimum 40% aggregate (PCBE); for SC/ST candidates the minimum percentage of marks will be 35%. The university will issue the provisional certificate only after obtaining course completion certificate from the institution. The candidate should complete this course in 8 years from the date of joining the course. AGE LIMIT FOR ADMISSION: A candidate should have completed the age 17 years at the time of admission or would have completed the said age on or before 31 st December of the year of admission. COMMENCEMENT OF COURSE: The course shall commence from 1 st August of the academic year. MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION: English shall be the medium of instruction for all the subjects of study and for examinations of the Bachelor of Science Degree course in (Basic). DURATION OF THE COURSE: The duration of B.Sc. Degree course in (Basic) shall be four (4) academic years including internship period. The course completion certificate will be issued after the completion of 4 years period. POST BASIC BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN NURSING (B.SC.,DEGREE)- 2years Candidates belonging to all categories will be eligible for admission to the course of Post Basic B.Sc. (a) Should have qualified in Diploma in and be a Registered Nurse and Midwife in the Tamil Nadu Council or any other State Council. (b) After GNM with the Registration certificate from the State Council, the candidate will be permitted to join in Post Basic B.Sc. without any work experience. (c) If the registration certificate cannot be obtained immediately, the original evidence for registration in the form of receipt or any other authenticated document

19 from the office of the State Council will be acceptable in lieu of the Registration Certificate. (e) Eligible for admission to this course, a candidate should have: (i) Passed the Higher Secondary or Senior Secondary or Intermediate or 10+2 or an equivalent examination recognized by the University for this purpose. (ii) (ii) Should have obtained a certificate in General and Midwifery and registered as R.N.R.M. with the State Nurses Registration Council. (iii) Every candidate before admission to this course shall submit to the Principal of the institution a certificate of Medical Fitness from an authorized Medical Officer that the candidate is physically fit to undergo this Academic Programme.. Graduates should have one year of experience in hospital or teaching in a College or in a School of or in Programme after the registration in State Council. Medical University is eligible for part time Ph.D DISCIPLINE:- Every student must follow rules and regulations of the college properly. Students should be neat and smartly dressed. All the students must wear identity card during their class hours. Late comers are not encouraged

20 Students must follow the uniform decorum properly during their clinical posting Students are not permitted to use cell phones in college, hospital and also in hostel premises. Spitting and Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the college campus As per the Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University, Students are not allowed to take leave unnecessarily, except in the case of emergency. In that situation they must inform the college through phone or telegram Students are expected to attend the prayer regularly. Ragging is strictly prohibited by an act promulgated by the government of Tamilnadu with a penalty and imprisonment. If any students are involving such type of activities in the hostel or college, he/she will summarily be suspended from the college. Students are advised to wear helmet during riding. WORKING HOURS:- The nursing college functions from 9.15 am to 4.45 pm during theory hours and in clinical hours from 8.00am to 4.pm with a lunch break between 1.00 pm and 2.00 pm ATTENDANCE:- Attendance will be taken every hour and for necessary leave, students should get prior permission from the Principal and the permission will be granted only for reasons with unavoidable circumstances. PG and UG candidates are required a minimum of 90% of attendance in theory and % attendance in practical separately in each subject, before the admission to the examinations. If a candidate lacks in the prescribed attendance and progress in any one subject in theory and practical in the first appearance, shall not be permitted for the entire examinations. A candidate must have % attendance in each of the practical areas before the award of degree. There shall be no condo nation for lack of attendance. Vacation for the UG students will be two weeks and No vacation for PG students. TESTS AND ASSIGNMENTS:- Every Friday after noon will be allotted for unit tests. Every month of last week monthly test will be conducted. Once in 3 months model exams will be conducted. Monthly progress report of each student will be sent to her/his parents directly, along with attendance report. Students showing poor performance continuously in the tests will be treated with special attention and special coaching.. Students should complete the practical session in their clinical postings itself, after completion of the clinical posting, students should submit the record book for obtaining signature. CO-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:- We are conducting spoken English classes, continuous nursing education, panel discussion, seminars, workshops in various fields of nursing education, practice, research, and administration for UG and PG students. All the health related days will be organized and celebrated by our nursing students. This type of co-curricular activities will be helpful for the students to learn current trends in nursing field, and also help to implement in their practice.

21 Observational visit to various hospitals, government and private colleges and community areas, have been the part of their curriculum and this will promote administrative skills and practical knowledge to the students. TRAINING:- Training will be encouraged in personality development, organization and administration of various programmes. Reference books only meant for referring inside the library, reference books will not be issued for circulation.

User will be kindly requested to handle the books safely and should be returned the books without damage Library cards will be issued to the students for availing books in the library.
