(NURSING) AND PHTT COURSES SESSION Selection of candidates for admission to the three years graduation course for B.Sc. (Medical Lab Technology), B.Sc. Medical Technology (X- Ray), B.Sc. Medical Technology (Anaesthesia & Operation Techniques), 4 years degree of Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.), 4 years degree course of B.Sc. (Nursing) and 9 months PHTTC for the year in the Government Medical College, Chandigarh shall be made as under NOTE: The course is open to Indian Nationals. Age: Minimum 17 years as on The candidates applying for UT Pool (85%) must have passed their 10+2 (Medical) or equivalent examination from the Institute situated in Chandigarh and as approved by Union Territory, Administration, Chandigarh. Candidates desirous of applying for more than one course are not required to submit separate application but multiple courses can be chosen in one form only. The candidate should clearly specify the category against which he/she wishes to apply (General/SC/In-service). The course will be taught in English medium only. In Service candidates should get their study leave of two years & leave of the kind due sanctioned for pursuing the course. (Not applicable for B.Sc. Nursing)

6 4 B. Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the Bachelor of Science (Medical Lab Technology) degree course shall be open to: 1. A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually both in Theory as well as practical & must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. Note: A person who has passed 10+2 vocational course (Medical Lab Technology) in their respective elective subjects & English individually both in theory as well as practical & must have obtained 50% marks in the aggregate of the 3 elective subjects conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. A person who has passed Part I of B.Sc. medical recognized by Panjab University. A person holding qualification of 3 yrs. Diploma in MLT (equivalent to 10+2) & must have obtained aggregate of minimum 50% marks & passed all the subjects individually from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible. 1. In respect of candidate belonging to SC the marks obtained as stated above will be 40% instead of 50% for general category. 2. A person in regular employment shall also be eligible as inservice candidate provided he/she fulfills any of the above categories of qualification and is in regular employment with UT Health / Medical Education and Research and has completed experience of five or more years as technologist in U.T Health / Medical Education and Research Department subject to submission of NOC from the employer.

8 B. Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-RAY) degree course shall be open to: 1. A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually both in Theory as well as practical & must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. A person who passed 10+2 vocational course (X-Ray Techniques) in all the vocational course subjects of Radiation Physics, Radiography-I General, Radiography-II Special, Biology & English individually both in theory as well as in practical & must have obtained 50% aggregate marks in the 3 vocational subjects and Biology conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. A person who has passed Part I of B.Sc medical recognized by Panjab University. A person holding qualification of diploma in Radiography/X-ray Techniques must have obtained aggregate of minimum 50% marks & passed all the subjects individually from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 examination with Science (physics, chemistry and biology) subjects. Note: 1. In respect of candidate belonging to SC the marks obtained as stated above will be 40% instead of 50% for general category. 2. A person in regular employment shall also be eligible as in-service candidate provided he/she fulfills any of the above categories of qualification and is in regular employment with UT Health/Medical Education and Research and has completed experience of five or more years as Technician/Dark Room Assistant in U.T Health / Medical Education and Research Department subject to submission of NOC from the employer. 6

10 B. Eligibility Criteria: 8 Admission to the B.Sc. Medical Technology (Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques) degree course shall be open to: 1. A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually both in Theory as well as practical & must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. A person who has passed Part I of B.Sc. medical recognized by Panjab University. A person holding qualification of diploma Anaesthesia & Operation Theatre Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained aggregate of minimum 50% marks and passed all the subjects individually from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with science (physics, chemistry & biology). Note: 1. In respect of candidate belonging to SC the marks obtained as stated above will be 40% instead of 50% for general category. 2. A person in regular employment shall also be eligible as inservice candidate provided he/she fulfills any of the above categories of qualification and is in regular employment with UT Health / Medical Education and Research and has completed experience of five or more years as Anaesthesia Technician or Operation Theatre Assistant in U.T Health / Medical Education and Research Department subject to submission of NOC from the employer.

12 B. Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) degree course shall be open to: 1. A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Medical group in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English individually both in Theory as well as practical & must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry & Biology (PCB) conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. A person who has passed 10+2 Vocational Course (Ophthalmic Technique) in their respective elective subjects and English individually both in theory as well as practical and must have obtained 50% marks in the aggregate of the three elective subjects conducted by recognized Board/Council / University. A person who has passed Part I of B.Sc medical recognized by Panjab University. A person holding qualification of diploma in Ophthalmic Techniques (2 or 3 years) must have obtained aggregate of minimum 50% marks and passed all the subjects individually from any recognized Board/Council/University shall also be eligible provided he/she joined diploma course after passing 10+2 exam with science (physics, chemistry & biology). Note: In respect of candidate belonging to SC the marks obtained as stated above will be 40% instead of 50% for general category. 2. A person in regular employment shall also be eligible as in-service candidate provided he/she fulfills any of the above categories of qualification and is in regular employment with UT Health / Medical Education and Research and has completed experience of five or more years as Optometrist/Ophthalmic Assistant in U.T Health / Medical Education and Research Department subject to submission of NOC from the employer. 10

14 B. Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the B.Sc. (Nursing) degree course shall be open to: 1. 15 VI PRE HOSPITAL TRAUMA TECHNICIAN COURSE (PHTTC) (9 MONTHS CERTIFICATE COURSE) 13 A. Distribution of seats Categories No. of seats General 17 Scheduled caste 03 Total Seats 20 B. Eligibility Criteria: Admission to the Pre-Hospital Trauma Technician (PHTTC) course shall be open to:- 1. A person who has passed 10+2 examination in Science group with 50% marks with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English as subjects conducted by a recognized Board/Council/University. 2. The admissible age limit for the said course as on should be between 17 years to 25 years.

SCHEME OF EXAMINATION: 14 Scheme of examination shall be as under For the selection of the candidate of all categories to the course, candidate has to qualify Aptitude/Entrance Test to be conducted by the Government Medical College, Chandigarh. Merit will be prepared by on the basis of the marks obtained in the Aptitude/Entrance Test. Pattern of the entrance examination (MCQs based) will be as under:- A. F 10+2 (MEDICAL GROUP i.e. Physics, Chemistry & Biology) PASSED CANDIDATE (F ALL STREAMS OF COURSES) & F B.Sc. (Nursing) The theory paper will consist of objective type question in the following subjects:- i. Chemistry 25 questions 25 marks ii. Physics 25 questions 25 marks iii Biology 25 questions 25 marks iv. General English 15 questions 15 marks v. Gen. Knowledge/Current Affairs 10 questions 10 marks The standard of theory paper will be 10+2 (MEDICAL GROUP) B. F 10+2 (VOCATIONAL STREAM) PASSED CANDIDATES & DIPLOMA IN RESPECTIVE DISCIPLINE PASSED CANDIDATES (a) For B.Sc. (Medical Laboratory Technology) The theory paper will consist of objective type questions in the following subjects: i. Anatomy and Physiology 25 questions 25 marks ii. Biology & Chemistry 25 questions 25 marks iii Lab Techniques 25 questions 25 marks (Microbiology, Biochemistry, Haematolory & Histopathology) iv. General English 15 questions 15 marks v. Gen. Knowledge/Current Affairs 10 questions 10 marks

17 15 (b) For B.Sc. Medical Technology (X-Ray) The theory paper will consist of objective type questions in the following subjects:- i. Anatomy and Physiology 25 questions 25 marks ii. Radiation Physics & Biology 25 questions 25 marks iii. Radiographic Techniques 25 questions 25 marks iv. General English 15 questions 15 marks v. Gen. Knowledge/Current Affairs 10 questions 10 marks (c) For Bachelor of Clinical Optometry (B.Optom.) The theory paper will consist of objective type question in the following subject: i. Biology-Ophthalmic 25 questions 25 marks ii. Optics 25 questions 25 marks iii. Ophthalmic Techniques 25 questions 25 marks iv. General English 15 questions 15 marks v. Gen. Knowledge/Current Affairs10 questions 10 marks For all the courses, the duration of the entrance paper will be of two hours. There will be no negative marking.

18 16 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS OF EXAMINATION/ADMISSION: 1. The examination will be held on at AM at Government Medical College, Auditorium, Block O, Sector- 32, Chandigarh. Candidates are required to bring their own clip boards and blue ball point pen. 2. No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall till the examination formalities are completed. 3. Candidate must carefully read the Instructions to the candidate given on the question paper. 4. Separate merit list would be prepared for General Category, Scheduled caste and In-service candidates which will be displayed on GMCH website on after 2.00PM. 5. Qualifying marks for eligible candidates appearing in entrance test: General Category: 50% In-service Candidate: 50% Scheduled caste: 40% 6. Candidates should have obtained at least 50% marks (Gen. Category) & 40% (SC) in the entrance test, to be eligible for counseling. 7. A candidate absent at the time of counseling will not be considered for the admission. 8. If total marks obtained are same by more than one candidate, candidate senior in age will be considered. 9. The selected candidate will have to undergo medical fitness test & only those candidates who are found medically fit by the constituted Medical Board will be admitted to the course. 10. Fee structure of All B.Sc. and B. Optom course is approx. Rs.9500/- (Gen Category) & Rs. 9000/- (SC Category) per annum. 11. Fee for the PHTTC course is Rs. 1000/- approx.

If admitted to B.Sc course, I agree to abide by the discipline of the college, to avail myself of all opportunities of academic instructions and to appear in all the college tests whenever required to do so by the college authorities. I understand that the duration of course of instruction for the degree of B.Sc. 2. If I, directly or indirectly, take part in any movement to create any kind of disturbance during my attendance in the aforesaid course in the college/hospital or to hold or address a meeting in the college/hospital or for participating in any other activity which, in the opinion of the Director Principal/Medical Superintendent/Asstt. Registrar will undermine the college/hospital discipline or indulge in taking alcohol, my name shall be removed from the rolls of the college or I shall be fined/rusticated/expelled from the college as decided by the college authorities. I agree that the decision of the college authorities in such matters shall be final. 3. If the college authorities find, on the basis of my results in the college examinations or my failure to take such examinations that I am not a fit candidate to be promoted to the next higher class or to appear in a professional examination, I agree to my being detained in the same class or from appearing in the professional examination. 4. If admitted to the college, I agree that my admission can be cancelled if I have submitted incorrect or incomplete information to the college authorities. I agree that in such case any fees paid shall not be refunded to me. 5. I understand that the day and time of declaration of selection will be notified on the notice board outside the Director Principal's office on the day of final selections. 6. I understand that the full fee to be paid by me on being admitted to the course is as per the Prospectus, that fee is payable either by cash or bank demand draft in the name of "Director Principal, Government Medical College, Chandigarh" and that personal cheques will not be accepted. 7. I agree to pay all dues regularly as notified by the college from time to time and on dates fixed for the purpose and understand that fees/ dues once paid are not refundable. I agree that any outstanding dues against me when I leave the college, shall be adjusted by the authorities concerned from my security deposit. I understand that after the final selection is made, the list of selected candidates, along with the waiting list candidates will be displayed on the notice board of the Government Medical College, Chandigarh and that no other notification of such results will be issued. I understand that the successful candidate wishing to claim the offered seat must deposit the first full installment of the fees on the same day after the selection, otherwise the offer

20 will be withdrawn and the seat will be offered to the next candidate in the waiting list in order of merit. 8. I understand that my admission will be cancelled if it is proved at any time that I have got admission in this college by submitting forged marks/ statement. 9. I confirm that I have not been disqualified by any University/Board. I also understand that the decision of the Admission Committee will be final and that my admission will be subject to approval by the Panjab University, Chandigarh. 10. I understand that if all the certificates submitted by me are not approved by the authorities concerned, my admission will be cancelled. 11. I understand that I will be permitted to take the First Professional B. Sc examination 12 months after the date of my admission. 12. It is understood that after selection, all my original certificates shall be retained by the college and the same will be released after the B. Sc Course including one-year compulsory rotating internship. 13. I further undertake that in case I am selected for admission in the said course in any other Medical College and do not withdraw my admission form from Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh my admission to Govt. Medical College, Chandigarh would automatically stand cancelled and the fee paid by me shall stand forfeited as per directions of college authorities issued from time to time.
