Pro Bono Programs/Opportunities please describe: Michigan Law students have numerous opportunities to participate in pro bono projects through our Pro Bono Program, with student groups, and with faculty projects. Amy Sankaran (aharwell@umich.edu) is our Pro Bono Manager. D. Non-discrimination Policy please provide your school's non-discrimination policy: Working with student organizations, the Office of Career Planning offers specialized career programs. The Michigan Access Program (MAP) seeks to promote students' participation and meaningful connection to the Law School. The chief objectives of MAP are to build community among all students across racial, ethnic, and cultural lines, create mentoring relationships between upper class students and participating 1Ls, and provide a smooth transition into Law School by helping to demystify the first year experience. Every student is invited to participate regardless of background, with special emphasis on encouraging the participation of non-traditional students. Several members of the Law School faculty actively participate in this program, as instructors during pre-orientation and as advisors throughout the academic year. The Law School is committed to the principle of equal opportunities for all individuals. Equal employment opportunity is inherent in the ideals of the legal profession. We expect that prospective employers using the facilities of our Office of Career Planning accept that principle and that their employment policies will be consistent with it. The faculty has adopted the policy that the placement services of the are not available to any organization or individual that discriminates in recruitment or employment against any person because of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, creed, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation,* handicap or Vietnam-era veteran status. *Although the employment policies and practices of the United States Armed Forces do not meet the Law School's requirement that employers who interview here not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, current Federal law effectively prevents the Law School from applying this requirement to military recruiters, including those for the Judge Advocate General Corps. The fact that military recruiters are here in no way reflects the Law School's endorsement of their discriminatory employment practices.
