We just wrapped another successful Pulse User s Group Conference, and I want to thank all of you who attended. It was exciting this year to see so many new faces take advantage of all the information the PUG classes had to offer and witness relationships created amongst veteran and new clients. I d especially like to thank those who took the time to schedule one-on-one consultations with our experts as those sessions provided great insight into what challenges you and other clients may be having, which informs our decisions moving forward about how to better support you. We were also very pleased with the great reception the Pulse Note and PulseCloud demos received by PUG attendees. Thanks to your feedback in the ongoing development of these products, we re confident they will offer improved efficiencies and increased productivity for your practice. We are very excited to officially release these products later this year.

2 As we approach the second half of 2016, I want to reiterate our gratitude for your role in supporting our efforts to provide the very best solutions for our clients. By keeping the lines of communication open with your Client Manager, you help us identify and resolve potential issues in a timely manner. For those of you that participate in our Focus Groups and surveys, your communication helps us determine how we can make each product work best for our family of clients. And, by participating in our Early Adopter Programs as we pilot products like Pulse Note, PulseCloud and Pulse Patient Portal 2.0, you help us deliver near-perfect products at the official launch, which benefits your own practice as well as thousands of other Providers whom we serve. While we re talking about gratitude, it s important to me to recognize the opportunity we ll all have later this month to remember and honor those who have given their lives while serving our nation. Each Memorial Day, I m reminded of just how blessed my family and I are to enjoy the freedoms we do today because of the men and women and their families who have sacrificed so much for our nation. 3 Each year the medical industry is becoming more and more advanced in technology, linking a surge in e-prescribing in recent years. According to Surescripts, the nation s network for e-prescribing, more than half of all prescriptions are now delivered electronically, making accuracy and accountability a critical part of a patient s plan of care. WHIT E COAT O F Q UA L IT Y Pulse was recently honored with the 2015 Surescripts White Coat of Quality award for the fifth consecutive year. Electronically transmitting patient information naturally raises concerns of accuracy and security, which led Surescripts to develop the White Coat of Quality Award. This distinction for clinical quality and best practices is the highest award given to e-prescribing vendors Pulse s e-prescribing solution, PulseRx 5.0, is a complete medication management solution designed to simplify medication management, streamline practice workflow and increase productivity. This allows providers to quickly and easily generate prescriptions, manage a patient s medication records and allergies, review benefits and formulary information, and process refill requests easily and accurately. While every state allows e-prescribing, New York recently mandated that all prescriptions be sent electronically on March 27, Minnesota also requires the use of electronic prescribing, but doesn t specify how much or set penalties. Benefits of e-prescribing include reducing errors and risks of forgery, streamlining workflows and offering convenience for doctors and patients. It is likely that we will see more states mandating e-prescribing in the future.

4 Flowsheet Input The Flowsheets module in Pulse EHR allows users to record, graph, and print user defined data elements via customized Flowsheet templates (such as Warfarin Therapy and Diabetes Management). Ways to access the Flowsheet: 1. With the clinical dashboard application opened and a patient pinned to the top menu, you may access the Flowsheet from the Patient Functions menu. 2. With the clinical dashboard application opened and a patient pinned to the top menu, click EHR to access the Flowsheet from the Patient Dashboard.

5 3. From the Patient Dashboard select the Flowsheet tab. 4. The Flowsheets list opens a toolbar and list area. Click the New Session button on the toolbar to enter new records.

6 5. Click the down arrow button on the Session Date field and select the desired date from the calendar. 6. If you have configured more than one Flowsheet, you could select the desired Flowsheet for this session.

7 7. Enter a comment for this session if desired. Click the down arrow on the Session Status field and select the desired status. Click the Save button when finished. 8. The new session appears in the Sessions list. Click the Exit button when finished. 9. The Flowsheet list refreshes displaying the new sessions.

8 10. Enter the results for the desired groupings and Save. 11. The document tab displays the results in a form suitable to provide to a patient.

9 A hidden gem for locating and scheduling appointments This tip covers a hidden gem within the PulsePro scheduling module. In the screen shot below, we have highlighted a small area that could be helpful in locating and scheduling appointments. This tool allows users to jump forward or backwards by days, weeks, months or years through using a short-hand code. The box on the left gives a user the option of looking at dates from the selected day in the schedule. For example, if we are looking at 4/28/16, we can enter in F4D (forward 4 days) and it will take the user to the 4th day forward from 4/28/16 and display appointments for 5/2/16. The same will work for a reverse look up as well such as B4D (back 4 days). The box to the right is used in the same fashion, however, it is used to look forward and backwards from the current date, regardless of what date is being viewed in the schedule.

10 Note: You may hover over either box to receive a tool tip that will provide instruction on the short-hand code. We hope this tip is helpful. 11 Are you accessing all of RidgeMark? Ever see the Year to Date Dashboard report? We have noticed that most customers have not entered the Security Right of many features introduced over the years. These Security Rights are listed at the end of all release notes and they are easy to plug in. Here s how to do it: 1. Within RidgeMark, select File > Close Application 2. Then select Settings > User Groups 3. Select the Admin Group and zoom (F5) on the Rights column 4. Select F4 to create a new entry and enter the Security Right of RXGIF into the key column 5. Tab off the key column and you should see YTD Dashboard in the name column 6. Select the OK button to close the rights listing, then select OK to close the User Groups listing 7. Close RidgeMark and then reopen it For a complete listing of Security Rights (and their suggested user groups), please contact the Support Desk. Please Note: Not all users will have an Admin Group. If this is the case, you may not be set up for all the financial reporting. In this case, this tip would not apply to your practice.

12 Focus Groups Here at Pulse, we practice client-driven product development. This means that your voice is directly involved in our design. This summer, we re offering even more Focus Groups on Thursdays at 12-1 p.m. CDT. These virtual meetings allow clients to gain insights into what the product development team is focusing on and offers a forum to provide your thoughts and feedback on these proposed solutions. Please see a full listing of future Focus Groups in the Upcoming Events section and register to all that are of interest to you and your practice. PulseCloud Introduced at the 2016 Pulse User s Group, this cloud-based system is the next evolution of PM and EHR solutions to be offered by Pulse. This new solution will improve ease-of-use while providing a significantly lower total cost of ownership to users. We invite you to be part of the product design by participating in a series of Focus Groups this summer. Please see a full listing of future Focus Groups in the section.

13 Pulse efax The Pulse team has been designing an all new integrated cloud-service fax solution. This solution is under development and will offer a number of key benefits over the current solution. Thank you to all who participated in the efax Focus Groups to help us finalize the design for the efax solution. Pulse Mobile The Pulse Mobile team is hard at work on the next big release of Pulse Mobile. This release introduces support for Tasking and will be available in the app store this month. Thank you to all who participated in the Mobile Tasking Focus Groups to help us finalize the design for this solution. Pulse Patient Portal 2.0 We extend a big thank you to all who have participated in the Early Adopter Program for Pulse Patient Portal 2.0! This new solution has been released and is currently in the process of being MU certified. Please contact your Client Manager if you are interested in the new Pulse Patient Portal 2.0 platform. PulseCloud User Interface Design The Pulse UI team has come up with a great user interface design for the PulseCloud solution. These updates will improve your interactions within the PulseCloud solution. The design will reduce the number of clicks, simplify your everyday workflows and increase your efficiency in using our solution. Please join our Focus Groups and provide us your feedback to help enhance the solution experience. To join, please register in our session.

14 Get To Know Your Software Through these monthly newsletters, Pulse wants to help you get to know the people behind the voices in our Software Support department. You already know their voices from calling our helpdesk. Here s a little more about one of our team members Chris Jacobs Senior Software Support / Team Lead Prior to joining the Pulse Family, Chris Jacobs spent 22 years working for a major manufacturing company in Wichita, KS. For many of those years, Chris was an Account Manager, responsible for directly supporting the valued client relationships for the company on a daily basis. This background uniquely prepared Chris for his role at Pulse, which began in September of 2013, when he was hired as a Software Support Specialist...

15 ... He was quick to absorb the many software modules and their functionalities, leading to his promotion in July 2015 to the position of Senior Software Support / Team Lead. When we asked Chris what his favorite part of working for Pulse is, he was quick to cite our clients. I really enjoy taking care of our clients, both internally and externally, Chris said. Since his promotion to Team Lead, Chris still services our clients both directly and behind the scenes, and he provides direction and direct support to the entire Software Support Team on complicated issues. Chris was born right here in the Wichita area and, with the exception of a two year stint as a Texan, he has lived in Kansas his entire life. He is currently working on his Associates Degree for Network Systems Administration, and he says that his studies keep him fairly busy when he is not at Pulse. Aside from working on his continuing education, Chris likes to spend his free time playing softball and video games where he goes by the online nickname, Mayhem. He has two daughters, ages 24 and 21, a 14-year-old son, and two step daughters, ages 13 and 10. When asked about his favorite movies, Chris told us that he loves anything from producer Ivan Reitman, with the best examples being Stripes, Ghostbusters and Road Trip.
