Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Leadership, Policy and Development: Higher Education and P-12 Education January 2014-May 2015 Assisted Dr. Florence Guido with gathering and reviewing literature for the upcoming third edition of her textbook, Student Development in College: Theory, Research, and Practice; assisted Dr. Mathew Birnbaum with gathering and reviewing education pipeline literature, as well as checking statistical data for accuracy; assisted Dr. Gabriel Serna with a variety of research projects, by collecting and manipulating data from a number of primary and secondary datasets, running econometric analyses, and creating graphs and tables to report findings. Summer Research Assistant June 2013-August 2013 Assisted Dr. Gabriel Serna with original research pertaining to state fiscal tax policies and higher education funding. Formatted and analyzed economic graphs, cleaned and retrieved data from a number of secondary sources, and utilized Microsoft Excel and Stata Data Analysis and Statistical Software. Intern, Education Innovation Institute January 2013-December 2013 Worked with the Institute Director, faculty affiliates, and fellow interns in studying the theory and implementation of experimental and quasi-experimental research design in education research and evaluation; focused on methods for increasing rigor in education research, while also reporting findings more efficiently to stakeholders with varying levels of technical knowledge. Assisted Dr. Brian Prescott (Director of Policy Research) with submitting and collecting surveys for the annual Tuition and Fees in Public Higher Education in the West publication, updating the Regional Factbook for Higher Education in the West, and analyzing data on net revenues and costs for resident and nonresident students.
