1 Sophia Snow Place September Centre Street * West Roxbury, MA * (617) Sophia Snow Place has its roots in the charitable spirit of the nineteenth-century Boston. In 1856, a group of civic-minded citizens raised money to operate and maintain the Roxbury Home for Aged Women. In 1962, after a century of care, the home was relocated and renamed Sophia Snow House, in honor of Sophia Snow. Today, the parent company, the Roxbury Home for Aged Women, has affiliated organizations: Snow House & Snow Place. These nonprofit organizations continue their mission to provide comfort, companionship and security in a warm, homelike environment for seniors. Oh, Memories of Sending the Children Back to School Twas the night before school started, When all through the town, The parents were cheering. It was a riotous sound! By eight, kids were washed And tucked into bed... When memories of homework...filled them with dread! New pencils, new folders, and new notebooks, too! New teachers, new friends...their anxiety grew! The parents just giggled when they learned of this fright And shouted upstairs-... GO TO BED-IT'S A SCHOOL NIGHT! Author Unknown
