This reflects in that many of our own have changed by those we work with and for. This is a learning and development environment that helps children and adults to develop essential behavioural, leadership and life skills through outdoor experiences and social engagement projects. The Magic Bus Activity Based Curriculum (ABC) is a unique model that uses games to make change. 40 sessions per year each with a lesson, teach children about education, gender, health, and key issues affecting them. The games excel in building physical, social, and personal skills. Local youth volunteers are trained to be mentors and role models to other children. They conduct ABC sessions and act as catalysts for community change. The children and youth grow up becoming confident, respected and responsible. The Connect Programme bridges the gap between possibility and opportunity through access to training and courses. Nearly all the youth end up pursuing higher studies and/or enrolling in our employability program. We provide an equal opportunity platform for learning and development for at-risk and children in marginalised communities, students from private schools and corporates alike. We will offer you the opportunity to become Magic Bus Ambassadors on returning to your home country. Programme Donation US $ Included in price - all transport, food, accommodation, programme insurance and activities during the programme dates. Not included in price Travel and accommodation prior and post programme dates. Travel Insurance. Any extra requirements beyond the programme details. A deposit of 50% secures your place and is required within 7 days of your application being successful. The remaining 50% is required 14 days prior to the start date of your programme. An application form must be completed before acceptance on the programme. Our Child Protection Policy must be read and signed on arrival. Applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 25 As we are unable to take responsibility as Loco Parentis for delegates arriving earlier than the programme dates applications from those below the age of 18 cannot be accepted. 6 How your experience could look Day 1 - Saturday Arrive Mumbai - Travel to the Magic Bus Centre Day 2 Sunday - Centre Activity & Adventure Day. Introduction to our approach to experiential learning and the Leadership Through Action Challenge. Day 3 Monday - Centre Pack and leave for overnight trek to a mountain community. Help in the village farming, teaching children, etc. Sunset on a mountain top? Day 4 Tuesday - Centre Sunrise on a mountain top? Leadership in the mountain community. Return to the Centre Day 5 Wednesday - Centre Observe and assist on a Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Business and the marginalized. Day 6 Thursday - Mumbai Magic Bus Head Office. Meet some of our key staff and understand how we work. Visit and observe a some of our Community Leaders run a session in one of Mumbai s oprations. Day 7 Friday - Mumbai A full day in one of Mumbai s communities. Moving from observing to assisting in our sessions. Day 8 Saturday - Mumbai Visit Leher an inspirational partner organisation working with girls and young women in the communities of Mumbai. Day 9 Sunday - Mumbai Magic Bus Sports Day in one of the City Communities Return to the Centre Day 10 Monday - Centre Visit a local environmental project or animal sanctuary. A community project in one of our local schools. Day 11 Tuesday - Centre Your turn! Plan and prepare a day for one of our local rural community school children to visit the Centre. Day 12 Wednesday - Mumbai Tour of Mumbai Gateway to India, Kolaba, Haji Ali Mosque and maybe some shopping? Day 13 Thursday - Mumbai Working alongside our Magic Bus Experts working with the City Communities Day 14 Friday - Mumbai To the airport Flights Home? Further adventures? 7 Engagement Action - Reflection - Application This is NOT a summer camp! At the Magic Bus Centre we offer our own, unique, approach to Experiential Learning, linking the Ripples of Learning methodology developed by Philip Race with John Adair s Task Team Individual. This holistic approach to development and leadership fosters a balance between reflection and application. We believe the student becomes the central component of their own development, but also strongly aware of their role within a group to be successful in their individual and mutual goals. The activities and experiences we offer engage the students in an exciting and challenging environment that becomes the framework for reflection and facilitated discussion. With our unique Magic Bus Activity Based learning and mentoring approach to stimulate individual and social change, the Magic Bus Centre offers a unique combination of activities, experiences and experiential learning. Experiences that will not only inspire individuals - but help the future of society as a whole! Students from an International IB School camped for 3 days at Khondar Village and assisted villages in constructing a pipeline from the nearest fresh water spring o the village a distance of 2 km! 7
