English (ELICOS) Course English for General Purposes CRICOS F The program helps you to develop confidence in English communication by practicing the skills you need to communicate accurately and fluently according to situations, aims and participants. These skills include speaking, listening, reading, writing and language usage. Different themes and topics are presented in weekly units and students also have the opportunity to develop computer skills. Excursions and social activities are also regularly arranged for students. Course Length: 4-48 weeks Course Start Dates: Every Monday (except public holidays) Orientation: Students will do a placement test and have an interview with the Academic Manager and then be placed in a class matching their level of English from Elementary to Upper Intermediate. Elementary or higher (Bridge English College does not accept Beginner Students). Students must be able to read and write the English alphabet and be able to conduct a very basic converstion. TOEFL TEST CENTRE The TOEFL test is the most widely respected English-language test in the world as it is conducted in over 130 countires. The TOEFL(Test of English as a Foreign Language) test assesses a student's ability to use and understand English at a tertiary level. It also examines how well a student can function when performing academic tasks. The average English skill level ranges between Intermediate and Advanced. If one of the following applies to you, then the TOEFL test may be just what you are looking for: Students planning to study at a higher education institution. English-language learning program admissions and exits English-language learners who want to evaluate their progress Students and workers applying for visas The test is conducted at our premises on Saturdays and exam dates can be located on our website. TOEFL EXAM PREPARATION CLASSES In addition to our TOEFL test centre, we also offer an exam preparation class for students who wish to sit the exam or perhaps just develop their language skills at a level which prepares them better for further tertiary study. 21 Training Delivery & Assessment Classroom Training Training is delivered 'face to face' by qualified trainers and you are required to attend each scheduled class where the trainer will decide the learning pace, method and sequence appropriate to your learning needs. BBC acknowledges the National Assessment Principles issued under the Australian Qualification Framework and is committed to validity, reliability, flexibility and fairness in assessment processes for the training programs that it delivers to its students. Learning methods will vary and can include case study scenarios, field trips, 'hands on' practical classes, role play techniques, discussions, presentations and assignments. Classroom Assessment Assessment tasks and strategies cover a wide range of methods and may include the creation of specific written documents, projects or reports, formal questions (multiple choice, short and long answer), practical demonstrations, small or large group tasks, oral presentations, problem solving tasks, case studies and discussions. As a general rule for major assessments, you will be provided with task assessment instructions including the date the task is due for completion. In Vocational Education and Training (VET) an exam is called an assessment. After you complete your assessment you will be either Competent (C) or Not Yet Competent (NYC). You will receive an ID and a password in your , which will allow you to Log-on to our system at any time and follow up the progress of your application (go to click on Log In ) 2. We will send you an Offer Letter via within the next 48 hours. Please note that an Offer Letter does not secure a place in the College, until payment has been processed and CoE issued. Should any information or documents be missing, we will send you a Conditional Offer Letter. A full Offer Letter will be issued when all outstanding information and documents are provided. 3. Please read the Offer Letter carefully and check that all details are correct.
