Cambridgeshire ACRE (Action with Communities in Rural England) facilitated the Community Led Planning process in Lode with Longmeadow.

2 What needs to be done and how Priority Responsibility update Communications 01. Set up a village website and use to publish matters, e-version of Lode Star magazine, events notices and village archive. Partners: Other community groups. Communicate local residents views of housing development to East Cambridgeshire District Council so that they might be included in future Local Development Plan. 03. Discuss housing development opportunities with National Trust. 04. Enable owners to land and empty properties within development envelope to discuss opportunities. 05. Support development of low-cost infill housing for local young people. 06. Encourage use of empty properties. 07. Restrict development to a mix of housing meeting environmental sustainability standards. 08. Avoid development outside village envelope.

Partners: Other community groups. 10. Set up a business support network for people who work from home. 11. Set up an Events Group to organise fetes, barbecues and arts activities for the village. 12. Discuss the possibility of setting up a community pub with Lode Social Club, National Trust and owners of suitable properties. 13. Pursue open and free access for residents to Anglesey Abbey and gardens on regular occasions. Partners: National Trust 14. Build and develop Neighbourhood Watch groups and liaise with local community police. Partners: Police The Countryside 15. Join Parish Paths Partnership. 16. Discuss with local landowners opportunities for creation of small woodland areas and wildlife sites and permitted footpaths. 17. Create an Adopt a Path scheme whereby local volunteers will litter pick and report problems. 18. Investigate improvements to cycle routes to Waterbeach and Quy. National Trust to be asked to make regular presentation to village on Wicken Fen developments via Lode Star magazine and website. 23. Village/National Trust Liaison Group to review ways of coping with additional visitors to the village by making use of NT car parks, looking at alternative vehicle and on-foot entry ways and reviewing footpath signage. Develop a village policy for environmental sustainability and reduction of pollution. 25. Use new sports pavilion as an example of a sustainable build and to showcase carbon-friendly building methods. Increase range of recycling opportunities including village composting scheme.

Place electric speed warnings on main road. 36. Negotiate with National Trust to maximise speed reduction effect of pedestrian crossing to new car park. 37. Assess need for direct bus route to hospital and station (via website questionnaire). 38. Assess need for bus route Park & Ride to station. 39. Assess potential of car share scheme (via website questionnaire). 40. Review cost of providing lighting to Longmeadow bus shelter. 41. Discuss possibilities of car parking for visitors near old station with land owner.

Create and BMX/skateboard track for young people. 50. Build a basketball area. Funding for design and build would be needed. Funding for equipment purchase and installation. Precept 51. Raise the precept by up to 10 per annum to pay for specific action points of the Parish Plan where external funding cannot be sourced.
