VENUE: DATE: TIME: Wesley College Te Whare Angitu / Rec Centre Wednesday 13 March 7pm INTRODUCTION OF 2013 NEW UNIFORM The new boys school uniform has been met with approval is the transition year. Students are expected to wear either the old school uniform (greys) or the new uniform and not to mix and match the two. Investigations are continuing into a new uniform for the girls. More information will be given as it comes to hand. The number 1 uniform is unchanged UNIFORM / SHOP OPENING HOURS Boys Quality Used Uniform: The College uniform shop will have some good quality used uniforms available. Please contact the Matron, Mrs R West to make an appointment on (09) ext 811. Boys New Uniform: SAS Sports Ltd is the new uniform supplier. SAS will provide all Wesley College school uniform and school related clothing. The store is located at: 28A Wood Street Papakura (09) The hours of operation are: Open: Tuesday to Friday 9am-4.30pm Saturday 10am-3pm Closed: Monday and Sunday Girls New and Quality Used Uniform: These items will still be sold at the College. COLLEGE SHOP ACCOUNT Please ensure that there are sufficient funds in each student s Shop Account at the beginning of the year to cover the following items. These are only available through the College Office. I suggest that each account has $ deposited at the start of the year to cover these items and other term 1 requirements. Wesley College Bible - $20.00 (current students should have a bible) 2013 Diary - $ Collegian (Year Book) - $ Student ID Card - $10.00 (used for student fares/proof of identity/student entry to movies The College shop will carry very basic student school stationery to top up students during the term ie refill pads, pen and pencils. Please ensure that you purchase all of your son s / daughter s stationery before they arrive at the beginning of the year.
4 PAGE 4 PRINCIPAL S NEWSLETTER ISSUE 2013/2 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY WESLEY COLLEGE HOSTELS COUNCIL STATEMENT OF INTENT & STRATEGIC BUSINESS PLAN The Statement of Intent and Strategic Business Plan is the result of a re-visioning exercise initiated by the Trust Board in The Plan sets out the way in which the Hostel Council will work to contribute to the Wesley College outcomes for the College. The control and management of the Trust Board s Paerata property including the College and the Hostel, is vested in the Wesley College Trust Board. Under the 1976 Integration Agreement the College has a Special Character that includes religious observances, based on a relationship with the Methodist Church of New Zealand. The Hostel Council, established by the Trust Board in November 2008, governs the hostel and the Deputy Principal (Boarding) under the general direction of the Principal, manages the hostels. The Hostel Council is responsible for: developing policy providing strategic direction, planning and budgeting reviewing and monitoring risk and progress towards achieving the Hostel purpose and objectives. The Hostels Council has established its outcomes to be: The Wesley College Boarding Hostels develop student s spiritual, academic, cultural, social and sporting potential, in a disciplined * environment, that celebrates the special character of the Methodist Church of New Zealand.* in this context, disciplined means ordered, structured, safe and family like. An examination of the Hostels operating environment across a wide range of categories together with a detailed assessment of high level strategic risk areas and specific mitigation strategies provides a base on which to formulate the strategic directions for To achieve its statutory mandate and the above goals, the Hostel has four output classes all of which have quantified targets and timelines: Provide a home-like environment to boarders Provide boarder health and welfare services Provide food service on the College campus Provide property management services to the College campus The hostel s intention is to implement five strategic priorities which will contribute the delivery of the Hostels desired overall outcome: Enhance the celebration of the College Special Character Improve relationship management and marketing Enhance the capability of our people. Improve business systems Improve management of College property and physical assets. Monitoring and assessment will be conducted on a case-by-case basis to determine the efficiency and effectiveness of the Hostel s operating intentions. C.J. Telford Chairperson 18 September 2011

The Hostel Council: normally meets twice each term meets at Wesley College meetings begin at 5 pm will pay travel for those living between Warkworth and Hamilton Those appointed will: be full members of the Council will be (re) appointed on an annual basis have a child / ward in one of the hostels have an understanding of the Wesley College Special Character statement support the Special Character of the College and regard it as the foundation- stone for hostel operations.
