1 LaVette Hunter, Principal: Ernesto Mantilla, VP; Kenyetta Black, ; and Stephen Papp, April 2, 2015 Academy Programs of Study Guide Dear Mighty Eagles: The week of February 9, 2015, was designated as Subject Selection Week for Turner Tech students. Counselors, teachers and students work together to select courses for the school-year. All students were asked to complete a Subject Selection Worksheet before March 6, In an effort to ensure accuracy, student history reports and report cards were distributed to align courses request with graduation requirements and academy programs of study. Students were encouraged to talk with a counselor during the lunch period to review course selections and/or make changes. Some course recommendations required approval from both the teacher and counselor. Teacher recommendations are needed for Advanced Placement and/or Dual Enrollment classes. Any questions regarding vocational certification and academy programs of study should be addressed with the academy teacher. Turner Tech is currently on a block schedule with alternating periods each Friday. In addition, English and History classes are taught on academy and aligned with the vocational genre. The Curriculum Guide is also posted on the school s website at Please note: A Parent Chat was held April 2, 2015, at Miami Dade College (North Campus) to discuss Dual Enrollment and coursework (See a counselor for detailed information).
