4 Registration for Workshops Registration Start Dates for all OEYC: Brant Workshops Friday, August 7, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for September & October workshops. Friday, October 2, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. for November & December workshops. How do you register for the OEYC: Brant workshops? You can register in person, by phone at or Note: is not accepted on the first day of registration. We cannot accept fax or voice mail registrations. If the workshop is full ask for your name to be put on a cancellation list. We refer to the list if space becomes available. Registration can only be made for yourself. When you are registering: Please make the commitment to attend or call us with your cancellation so that someone else can benefit from the experience. If you do not attend the first session in a series without making previous arrangements, your space will be given to the next person on the cancellation list. Taking Photos or Recordings in Programs Families are reminded when using the programs offered by the OEYC: Brant that not all visitors wish to have their own or their children s photos taken. To protect the privacy of all visitors: before taking a picture ask a staff member for permission AND you must receive permission from individuals that will appear clearly recognizable in the picture if the photographed individuals are under 18 years, the photographer should receive permission from the parent or guardian. get consent before such photos are posted to social media websites. There is a minimal fee for some of the Professional Development workshops to cover the cost of materials. Please note: children cannot be accommodated. Fostering Brant s Growth in Early Learning and Child Care Ask us how this new quality initiative is making a difference in our programs! Integrated Services in the Programs Talking Tots, the Brant County Preschool Speech and Language System Speech Language Pathologist from Talking Tots, the Brant County Preschool Speech and Language system, is available at the to complete an individual speech and language screening with your child. This service is available by appointment only. Screening can be completed with children between the ages of 6 months to eligibility for Senior Kindergarten entry. This service is also offered at other Best Start Early Learning and Parenting Centres. Please ask your site service provider. Please call if you would like to schedule a screening for your child. Child Development Outreach (during OEYC: Brant Together Time programs) The Child Development Program of Lansdowne Children s Centre provides an outreach program. Services include consultation on child development and parenting issues, developmental screens to provide information on your child s individual strengths and needs, and assistance with referrals to other community services. Children between the ages of months are curious, busy learners that are on the go! Registered workshops/programs are challenging for them. However, many of their learning opportunities are met through out drop-in programs. Let their curiosity lead the way and join us at our drop-in programs. See page 2 for the days and hours. This four week interactive program is filled with information, discussions, play activities and videos from the Best Start organization. Whether or not you have attended the Little Wigglers workshop, please join us in the next stage of this program for infants 6-12 months of age. Attend this workshop to learn more about how literacy starts right from birth with a love of language and rhymes, even during daily routines like bath time. We will also explore some good books for babies. Come and join us in this practical hands-on workshop where you will learn basic signs to introduce to your infant. Introduction of songs through sign will be introduced as part of this exciting parent-child program. Come and explore with your child squish/squash, mucky/gucky, jiggly/wiggly sensory activities. Be sure to come dressed for mess so that you can both fully enjoy this stimulating learning experience! Ooey, Gooey, Halloween Treats Wear your costumes and help fill the caldron with potions. You will learn basic strokes, baby's cues and benefits of a nurturing touch. Bring a blanket for infants to lie on. (Please note: crawling or walking babies can be challenging to massage). Crawl, hop, or jump your way into this interactive gross motor program. Expect to get moving with balls, songs and creative movement. Please note this is an interactive program and parents will participate in the activities with their toddler. Mothers in Motion is proud to give you Family Gym Time. This session will get everyone up and moving! Gym Time is a great way to practice skills like jumping, skipping, throwing, catching, and running. We will practice many fundamental movement skills through a variety of games and activities. Parents - be ready to participate along with your children. Babies and younger siblings in carriers and strollers welcome to attend. Thank you to the Boys and Girls Club for the space. Mothers in Motion is proud to give you more Family Gym Time. This hour long session will get everyone up and moving. Thank you to the partnering organizations of Active Grand and the City of Parks and Recreation for the free space. We will sing and dance to the music of Jack Grunsky, (Multi Juno Award Winner). Come and play, and in the words of Jack Grunsky, empower children through music. You and your child will make your own book too! Time flies by quickly and it's important to stop and celebrate all the things our children are learning, accomplishing and discovering about themselves and the world around them. Join us as we create and have some hands-on fun celebrating your family. During this interactive time spent with your little ones, we will sing, rhyme and tell stories from the Mother Goose program. A snack will be provided each week of this 10-week series. Get out your magnifying glass and be prepared to discover the wonderful world of science. Through experiments, exploration and hands-on experiences, your child will learn new scientific concepts and have a lot of fun while doing it. Come dressed for the mess! We will use games, books, and hands-on activities with your child to learn basic math concepts such as number sense, measuring, patterns and more. Join in as we explore math everywhere! Kids Have Stress Too! is a program designed to help parents understand stress and to help them teach their children ways of managing stress in their lives. Stress is a normal part of life and it occurs daily. Children do not yet have the life experiences of adults to help them cope with stress. We will look at the seven key concepts of Kids Have Stress Too! and offer strategies to help reduce a child s reaction to stress. Don't miss out on our 4th annual "Touch-A-Truck" event. Shhhhhhh.a little elf told the Early Years staff that Santa was stopping by for breakfast, but we will let you in on the secret. Join us for breakfast with Santa. If you register and cannot attend, call us so the next family on the cancellation list can enjoy the event. Please note Together Time will be closed for this family event. National Child Day is November 20. Join us during the week at our Together Time programs. We will celebrate this very special day with Indoor Winter Playdays. The snow may not be falling yet, but the Together Time programs will celebrate in anticipation of the coming winter weather.
