2 Orillia & Midland News GRANDPARENTS PARENTING AGAIN Grandparents are invited from 1:30-3:30 to take part in our program for support, resource information and development. For more information please call Jackie Vandenberg at the Ontario Early Years Centre MIDLAND: The 1st Tuesday of each month ORILLIA: The 2nd & 4th Tuesday of each month ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SATURDAY MORNING WITH DAD On the 3rd Saturday of most months, 10:00-12:00, the OEYC will be hosting a morning with Dads, Step-Dads, Grandpas! Join us for breakfast, circle time, and to meet other Dads and their families. Space is limited. Please register before each breakfast. NEXT PROGRAM: Saturday, January 16th ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ PJ S & STORYTIME! Tuesday evenings at 6:30 pm. Join us for a special story time and snack in Midland and Orillia. Parents and children can come dressed in their pyjamas and snuggle up together for circle time, story time and snack. Ages 0-6. Both the Orillia and Midland centres offer a fun interactive circle time everyday. Families can also enjoy a healthy snack Everyday at each of our centres. ORILLIA SNACK 9:30, CIRCLE 11:00 am MIDLAND SNACK TIME to follow CIRCLE SNOW POLICY & PROGRAM CLOSURES If school buses are cancelled in the North Zone : Registered programs at the centres will be cancelled Outreach programs will be cancelled A decision will be made if the centres will remain open for If local schools are closed or roads are closed due to bad weather: The OEYC centres and programs will be closed. 3 Orillia Centre News 80 Colborne St. W Orillia, ON INFANT MOTHER GOOSE Monday, January 4th to February 29th, 1:30-3:00 Parents and infants will enjoy connecting and bonding while learning new poems, rhymes, lullabies, and stories. Registration required. Ages 0-18 months (Child monitoring available for older siblings) TODDLER TIME Tuesday, January 5th to February 9th, Play is the basis of learning about the world for Toddlers. This program offers sensory, craft, socialization, fine and gross motor activities, stories, and circle time focused on making learning fun! Registration required. WEDNESDAY PROGRAMS 10:30-11:30 (Registration required each month) COOKING UP A STORY 2 to 6 years First Wednesday of each month. 18 mo 6 years Second Wednesday of each month. EARLY SCIENCE 2-6 years Third Wednesday of each month. MARVELOUS MATH 2-6 years Fourth Wednesday of each month. BABY SIGNS Thursday, January 7th to 28th, Baby Signs gives parents a window into their child s likes and dislikes, wants and needs, and a way to communicate with their baby before they can talk. Parents and babies will learn basic sign language, letters, numbers, and songs. Registration is required. Ages 6-18 mo GROW WITH YOUR BABY Thursday, February 4th to March 31st, The Grow With Your Baby program includes a weekly guest speaker. Parents will gain knowledge through discussions with our guest speakers. Parents and their babies will be involved with activities to enhance development. Ages 0-12 months Registration is required. (Limited child monitoring available for older siblings.) TABLE TOPS & TODDLERS Wednesday, January 10:00 Kids love to pour, play with cardboard boxes, taking things in and out, and books, books! Join Martha at the centre to find out fun and simple ideas for table top activities for you toddlers. TRIPLE P PARENTING THE POWER OF POSITIVE PARENTING Tuesday, February 9th, 6:00-7:30 pm. A workshop for parents to learn how to help children develop skills and feel good about themselves. CONFIDENT COMPETENT CHILDREN Tuesday, February 16th, 6:00-7:30 pm. A workshop to help parents learn how to apply positive parenting principles to create a foundation of success at school and in life. RAISING RESILIENT CHILDREN Tuesday, February 23rd, 6:00-7:30 pm. A workshop to help parents learn how to help children to cope with everyday feelings and strong emotions. TRIPLE P PARENT TIP POSITIVE DISCINPLINE Tuesday, March 1st, 6:00-7:30 pm. When parents have reasonable expectations and set fair limits, children are more likely to be cooperative and well adjusted. (SORRY, NO CHILD MONITORING AVAILABLE) PJ & STORYTIME EVERY TUESDAY 6:30 PM. PJ & Story every Tuesday night!!. Come dressed in your favorite pyjamas, listen to a story, enjoy craft time, snuggle with a toy from home, and share a yummy snack. Bring your toothbrush, then you re all set for bedtime when you get home. No registration required.

Thursday January 14, 1-3 pm "The Power of Positive Parenting" A workshop for parents to learn how to help children develop skills and feel good about themselves. Thursday January 21, 1-3 pm "Raising Confident, Competent Children" A workshop to help parents learn how to apply positive parenting principles to create a foundation of success at school and in life. Thursday January 28, 1-3 pm "Raising Resilient Children" A workshop to help parents learn how to help children to cope with everyday feelings and strong emotions. *Grow with Your Baby Monday January 11-March 7, 1-3pm Babies 0-12 months with their caregivers will be involved in activities designed to enhance development. In addition, caregivers will gain knowledge through discussion with weekly guest speakers. 9 Midland Outreach News Play and Learn This is a Drop In Program for families with children ages 0 to 6 years. It includes weekly creative activities, snack and circle time as well as open play opportunities. Children and adults join together to play, create, enjoy songs and stories. Snack and circle time at 11 am. All ages welcome. No registration required. *Rainbow Music and Fun Rainbow Music and Fun is a parent-child interactive Music and Early Literacy program. Learning is encouraged through the use of music and movement using scarves, instruments, ribbons, beanbags, parachute etc... Ages 18 month-6years.
