1 TUESDAY 25 TH AUGUST 2015 MARKET REPORT A similar entry of cattle with a firm trade for both steers and heifers with demand for clean cattle remaining strong. 2 22 YOUNG BULLS More bulls on offer this week as demand for all types and weights remains similar. The top price per kilo was for a Lim bull from A B Brown of Lockton weighing 595kg and selling for 194.5ppk ( 1221) to a Rowland Agar Ltd of Ilkley. A Lim and Sim bull, both from Ventress and Partners of Whitby, sold for 191.5ppk ( 1092) and 193.5ppk ( 1093). The top price per head was for a Lim bull from R Byas weighing 980kgs and selling for 1642 to Cleveland Meat Company of Stockton on Tees. 7 STEERS Fewer steers, all of which were Lim, on offer this Tuesday, with demand for clean cattle remaining strong. The top price per kilo was for a Lim from J R Gardiner of Carnaby weighing 575kg and selling for 245.5ppk ( 1412) to Overton Butchers of Filey. The top price per head was from R Young & Son of Roxby for another Lim steer weighing 665kg and selling for 1473 (221.5ppk). Others that sold well included a Lim from D R Jackson & Son weighing 590kg and selling for 233.5ppk ( 1378) and a Lim from T F W Morley & Bros weighing 530kg and selling for 217.5ppk ( 1153). 21 HEIFERS A slight increase in the number of heifers were on offer this Tuesday with more needed please as demand remains very firm. The top price per kilo was for a BB from N Marwood of Harome, weighing 490kg and selling for 259.5ppk ( 1272) to E Baker Butchers of Pickering. A BB and BA x from the same home, each weighing 510kg also sold well reaching 249.5ppk ( 1272) and 247.5ppk ( 1263). The top price per head was for a Lim heifer from D R Jackson & Sons weighing 605kg and selling for 1461 (241.5ppk) to a J Penny & Sons of Leeds. 7 OTM CATTLE Only a small number of OTM cattle were available this week with again more cows needed please. The top price cow was a Holstein from G Singleton of Farlington weighing 670kg and selling for 1035 (154.5ppk). An 88 month old BA x from R Rose, weighing 690kg, also sold well reaching 137.5ppk ( 853) to Cleveland Meat Company.
3 447 LAMBS MALTON LIVESTOCK AUCTIONEERS A slight increase in the number of lambs on offer this Tuesday with the top price per kilo going to a single lamb from J T & E Midgely of Uncleby, weighing 47kg and selling for 172ppk ( 81) to a T S Horsley of Scarborough. A pen of 6 lambs from L G Gray & Son, weighing 55kg, sold for 76 (138ppk). 151 CULL EWES / RAMS Another increase in the number of cull ewes available this week with the top price going to a pen of 7 Suffolk Ewes from T Bannister of Butterwick, selling for 80 to Cleveland Meat Company. Charollais ewes topped at 76 for a pen of three from S Hunter, again selling to Cleveland Meat Company.
