8 Societal Challenges RDES H2020 Social Challenge 2: Healthy and safe foods and diets for all (upcoming call) The influence of nutraceutical compounds on the prevention of colon cancer The project aims to study the influence of nutraceutical compounds on the prevention of colon cancer in Lynch patients. The research group has obtained lab results from a colon cancer animal model showing 57% reduction in tumours from animals given the functional diet, in comparison with control fed. The histopathology, size, numbers and other tumour characteristics are also better in the functional diet animal groups. The used colon cancer animal model is a chemical induced one. 9 Societal Challenges RDES H2020-GV-8 Transport Fast Charging Equipment for Electric Vehicles The project aims to develop fast charging equipment (a less than fifteen minutes charging time battery) for electric vehicles with a low contracted energy power (such as 3.7 kw) which will represent an important reduction in the power regular fixed costs. A compatible energy storage system will be used to accumulate the energy while the charger is not in service and then supply this energy to the vehicle when required. This new fast charging equipment will represent an important competitive advantage for potential customers who want to invest in sustainable mobility but cannot afford regular fixed costs. 3 types of partners from SMEs and bigger companies.
