5 PROFILA DATA CURVED TRUNKING MADE-TO-MEASURE After numerous successful installations, REHAU can confidently claim to be the leader in providing pre-curved PVC trunking. Our unrivalled expertise, developed in-house, allows us to provide curved profile to millimetre accuracy. Curved forms in building design create a striking visual appearance and soften the hard edges of conventional structures. The challenge offered by this design approach was taken up by a cross-divisional team within REHAU to take advantage of expertise within the company gained from the development of curved profiles for UPVc Window Installations. This ability of REHAU to bring together such a depth of cross-dicipline engineering experience and expertise, allowed pitfalls to be avoided and best practices passed on resulting in a greatly reduced development time. REHAU utilise specialist technology to produce highly accurate curved sections. Informed by a pro-active approach by REHAU to gather the data necessary to reproduce exact matches to wall curvature, you can confidently leave it to REHAU. From initial drawings, REHAU can provide advice on the limits of curvature possible without pre-bending so taking away the possibility of problems during installation. Where we find that pre-curved trunking is required, REHAU will take complete responsibility for on-site measurements and the manufacture of the accurate bespoke curved sections necessary. 5

8 PRE-ASSEMBLY SUPPORTING STANDARDISATION The increase in demand for Pre-assembled cable management kits experienced by REHAU is coming from medical centres, student accomodation, schools and academies projects. REHAU s expertise in the health & education sectors, together with the the suitability of its cable management products in this environment, is recognised across the industry. This kit of parts approach is perfect where identical cable management installations are required in multiple rooms. 9 COLOURED TRUNKING IN ANY RAL COLOUR Cable management has historically been designed to blend unobtrusively into the background. However, with Part M of the Building Regulations now dictating the requirement for increased visibility of electrical sockets comes the opportunity to use a colour co-ordinated or colour-impact installation. Part M of the Building Regulations specifies a contrast in the light reflectance value of electrical sockets and their surroundings of 30 points. This means that cable management installations can no longer be manufactured entirely in white material to match white walls. The Part M requirement has largely been met by the use of grey sockets or socket surrounds, but any colour with the correct light reflectance contrast can be used. Complete trunking systems in any RAL colour can be extruded or painted according to volumes to bring greater warmth and vitality into a building. 9

11 CASE STUDIES UK PROJECTS Churchfield Surgery, Bromsgrove We carried out our own detailed microbiological analysis of the performance of our anti-microbial PROFILA data trunking, installed in the new Churchfields GP survey in Bromsgrove. The findings totally supported Biocote s study with an even greater reduction in bacterial colony counts of almost 99%. Once the REHAU trunking had been installed in the new surgery for two months, we commissioned a study which involved swabs being taken from the trunking surface and from other comparable areas such as door handles and window sills. The testing proved REHAU Biocote trunking as an effective way to reduce the spread of germs. Sandwell College REHAU s Profila Data 180 x 65mm and Compact Data 140 x 50mm cable management systems were specified and installed by M&E contractors Interserve Engineering Services, who have used the trunking extensively on previous projects and like both the speed of installation and the cabling protection which it offers. In particular areas of the college, Interserve has mounted the trunking in vertical pods corresponding to rows of desking to avoid power going via floor voids. REHAU has also supplied high visibility socket collars for the project in a grey finish which satisfy the requirements of Part M of the Building Regulations governing use by the visually impaired. Litherland High School REHAU s PROFILA Bench cable management system has been installed alongside its standard data cable management systems in the newly opened Litherland High School in Liverpool to accommodate Cat 6a, power and AV cabling. The trunking was installed by NG Bailey, after the building services provider had been impressed by the quality and ease of fixing of the REHAU PROFILA system in a previous project at Burnley College in This is one of the first installations of REHAU s Bench trunking system which uses a triangular shaped PVC base profile and single lid for the safe and discreet distribution of data cabling on top of work surfaces. Ramada Hotel, Manchester REHAU s slimline PVC skirting trunking system has been installed in the refurbished Ramada Manchester Piccadilly Hotel. The SL system was chosen by electrical contractors CT Jackson because it provided a neat and unobtrusive way to deliver upgraded wiring in the hotel s 280 bedrooms. 100mm high x 20mm deep, the SL system replicates traditional skirting profile yet still allows for segregation of power and data cabling. 11
