IXI M In addition to complying with appropriate federal and state laws, California Labor Code, California Edcation Code, and California Code of Reglations, Title 5, the LEA agrees to the following assrances: 1. District Plan: The district plan for Work Experience Edcation (WEE) has been approved and adopted by the local governing board and is attached in the enclosed copy of Board Approving Mintes. (EC & CCR, T ) 2. Responsibility for District Plan: The WEE teacher-coordinator shall implement and/or comply with the assrances contained herein. The school district administration is responsible for those assrances otside the reqirements of the WEE teacher-coordinator, (e.g. Assrances 14, 15, 17, and 18) 3. Credential: The WEE teacher-coordinator shall possess a valid secondary-level credential, have two years of occpational experience otside the field of edcation, and have knowledge of the edcational prposes, standards, laws, and reglations regarding WEE. (EC & CCR, T ) 4. Enrollment in WEE: The WEE teacher-coordinator approves stdents for enrollment in WEE. (EC 51760) a. At the time of enrollment, stdents are at least 16 years of age. (EC (a))

2 Exceptions: - Stdents in grade 11 or higher. (EC (a)(i)) - Stdents enrolled in Exploratory WEE may be 12 years of age and in the middle school. (CCR, T (c)) - Principal may certify exemption. (EC (a)(2)(3)) - WEE may be identified on the Individalized Edcation Program. (EC (a) (4)) 5. Minimm Day: The minimm day for stdents is for periods totaling at least 180 mintes in dration (inclding WEE). (EC 46144) Exceptions: - Contination high school stdents. (EC 46145) - Gradating WEE stdents in the last semester of their senior year. (EC 46147) 6. Ppil/Teacher-Coordinator Ratio: The ppil/teacher-coordinator ratio in WEE does not exceed 125 ppils per one fll-time eqivalent certificated WEE teacher-coordinator. Only dties and time directly related to the operation of WEE are considered when determining the ppil/teacher-coordinator ratio. (EC 46300(b)) Exceptions: - Ratio may be waived by the State Board of Edcation. (EC 46300(b)) 7 Related Classroom Instrction: The WEE teacher-coordinator is responsible for preparing and condcting related classroom instrction. (EC 51760, (b) & CCR, T ) a. Related classroom instrction or gidance for each semester and type of WEE is condcted by the WEE teacher-coordinator a minimm eqivalent of one instrctional period per week offered in sessions schedled intermittently throghot the semester. (EC (b)) 8. Corse Description: The WEE corse description, with major nits of instrction for each semester and for each type of WEE offered is attached in the enclosed corse description with nits of instrction per semester. (CCR, T ) 9. Work Sites: The WEE teacher-coordinator identifies, selects, and/or approves work sites. (EC (a) & CCR, T ) a. A minimm of two on-site contacts per semester with a work site spervisor at each work site and minimm of one on-site contact dring the smmer school session is mandated for completion by the WEE teacher-coordinator. (CCR, T ) 10. Stdent Training Agreement: A written formal training agreement identifying the responsibilities of the school district, employer, parent/gardian, and stdent is developed for each WEE stdent and is attached in the enclosed copy of Stdent Training Agreement. (EC & CCR, T ) The following are fond on the Stdent Training Agreement:

3 a. Stdent objectives to be accomplished at the work site. (CCR, T ) b. The work site offers a reasonable probability of continos employment for the stdent dring the period for which the stdent is enrolled in WEE. (EC & ) c. The employer has adeqate eqipment, materials, and other facilities to provide appropriate learning opportnities. (EC & CCR, T ) d. Work conditions wilt not endanger the health, safety, welfare, or morals of the stdent. (EC 49116, & CCR, T ) e. The employer provides adeqate adlt spervision to ensre that: (1) The Exploratory WEE stdent is provided opportnities to observe and sample a variety of conditions of work to ascertain his/her interests and sitability for occpations being explored. (2) The General WEE stdent is provided opportnities to gain occpational skills. (3) The Career technical WEE stdent is provided opportnities to reinforce and extend the job skills and knowledge learned throgh the school career/vocational edcation instrctional program. {CCR, T & 10072) f. The employer, as reqired by law, provides Workers' Compensation Insrance coverage whenever there is an employee/employer relationship. Stdents enrolled in Exploratory WEE are provided Workers' Compensation Insrance throgh the local school district. (EC 51768, & CCR, T ) g. The employer maintains stdent's horly work records and cooperates in rating his/her achievement at the work site. (EC & CCR, T ) h. The employer assres the district that he/she does not discriminate based on race, creed, color, gender, sexal orientation, disability, political affiliation, or religion. (EC (c) & CCR, T ) 11. Work Permits: All work permits for stdents enrolled in WEE are issed or verified by the WEE teacher-coordinator or athorized designee in writing per the enclosed Letter of Athorization to isse work permits. (The docment needs original signatre of the District Sperintendent or designee.) (EC (b)) a) Dring the reglar school year, stdents wishing to obtain a work permit mst have satisfactory attendance and a 2.0 GPA from the last grading period.

4 b) Revocation of work permits for stdents who have habital attendance problems will be as follows: Step 1 - A verbal warning of revocation will be issed to stdent when s/he reaches five (5) nexcsed single period absences in one school year. Step 2 - A written warning of revocation will be issed to parent, stdent and employer when a stdent reaches ten (10) nexcsed single period absences in one school year. Step 3 - The work permit will be revoked when a stdent reached eighteen (18) nexcsed single period absences in one school year. Shold a work permit be revoked de to any of these above conditions, the stdent will be eligible for reinstatement of work permit at the next grading period providing there have been no semester final grade at CBK. c) The school district sperintendent will athorize, in writing, permission for qalified individals to isse work permits. Those individals mst be knowledgeable in and provided training in the federal, state and edcation code labor laws which govern the issance of work permits to minors. -In the absence of a smmer WEE program, smmer work permits will be issed by an appointee of the district sperintendent. 12. Exploratory WEE: For each stdent enrolled in Exploratory WEE, a limit on the nmber of hors of observation is established at each observation site. (CCR, T (c)) 13. Granting Credit: The procedre for granting school credit for WEE is fond in enclosre (4). A stdent satisfactorily completing the WEE program reqirements may earn a maximm of 40 semester credits made p of one or a combination of two or more of the following: (1) Exploratory WEE - Ten (10) semester credits for each semester with a maximm of twenty (20) semester credits. (2) General WEE - Ten (10) semester credits for each semester with a maximm of forty (40) semester credits. (3) Career Technical WEE - Ten (10) semester credits for each semester with a maximm of forty (40) semester credits. (EC , (b)(f) &CCR, T5 1635) 14. Professional Development: A provision is made for WEE professional development for new and contining teacher-coordinators and other spport personnel in WEE, to ensre the qality of the WEE program. (EC 51762) 15. Clerical Services & Records: A provision is made for clerical services to assist the professional in meeting the goals and objectives of WEE and to assre the accracy, completeness, and qality of the records. The district shall maintain records inclding:

5 a. Type of WEE in which each stdent is enrolled, where the stdent is employed, the type of job held or observation sites and hors of rotation. (EC ) b. Work permit issed, if applicable. (EC 49110) Note: Not reqired for Exploratory WEE. c. Employer's report of stdent's horly work record and performance on the job. (EC ) d. Report of employer consltations. (EC & CCR, T ) e. Ratings of each stdent, inclding his/her grade. (EC & ) f. Formal training agreement for each employer and stdent that describes the responsibilities of the employer, stdent, school, and parent/legal gardian. (EC & CCR, T ) 16. Smmer School: WEE dring the smmer is condcted in the same time period as the rest of the approved smmer school and conforms to all appropriate federal and state laws, California Labor Code, California Edcation Code, and California Code of Reglations, Title 5 rles and reglations applicable to WEE. 17. Civil Rights Act: WEE covered by this plan shall comply with Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and with Title 5 of the California Code of Reglations. (EC 51762) 18. Nondiscrimination: WEE covered by this plan shall comply with Title IX (Nondiscrimination on the Basis of Sex) of the Edcation Amendments of (EC 51762) to the best of my knowledge, the provisions for WEE otlined in this meet all California Department of Edcation reqirements. 8 WORK EXPERIENCE EDUCATION PURPOSE The prpose of Work Experience Fdcalion is to link the academic core crriclm with ihc world of work. Work Experience Edcation, as part of the total edcational process, assists stdents to develop skills, habits and altitdes condcive to job sccess and personal growth, and to help them choose and prepare for a career that is both realistic and satisfying. The three types of Work E \periencc Edcation areas are: Exploratory Work Experience. General Work Experience, and Vocational Work Experience. Exploratory Work Experience Edcation DEFINITIONS Exploratory Work Experience Edcation is nn-paid and provides vocational gidance to stdents by affording them opportnities to observe and sample a variety of work environments. Exploratory Work Experience Edcation incldes a combination of job observations and related classroom instrction in Work Experience Edcation. Stdents may be reqired to perform work activities on a limited non-paid basis while exploring the occpation. 1 he employer, or workstation spervisor, nn teach prodction or other job skills to the Exploratory Work Experience Edcation stdent. I he length of exploratory assignments may vary depending on the aptitde of the stdent, the occpation being explored, ihe facilities of the workstation, and the job classification. A secondary school stdent in Exploratory Work Experience Edcation mst be at least \ years of age. General Work Experience Edcation General Work Experience Edcation stdents will acqire general and specific occpational skills throgh a combination of a spervised paid employment in any occpational Held and related classroom instrction in Work Experience Edcation. Stdents mst show competent') in the basic skills of reading, writing and complation. Vocational Work Experience Edcation Vocational Work Experience Edcation provides spervised paid employment in an occpation related to the stdent's vocational corse.
