The air gets crisp and the excitement builds each week as you get ready to watch your favorite college or pro team take to the grid iron. And while the popularity of the game has grown, so too have the stadiums. Many teams play in state-of-the-art facilities and others have renovated classics. One common feature you will find among these stadiums is the appearance of metal panels from Moon Township, Pa.-based CENTRIA. In terms of aesthetics, architects and owners of these sports and recreation facilities had the largest depth and breadth from which to choose in terms of profile, color and texture options. Heinz Field Heinz Field, located in Pittsburgh, was completed in 2001, with a total cost of $281 million; home to football teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. The stadium is also used as a venue for public assembly and concerts. The stadium gained its name from primary sponsor, H.J. Heinz Co. With a capacity of 65,050 spectators and totaling 1.49 million square feet (138,421 m 2 ) the stadium has a 40,000 square-foot (3,716-m 2 ) great hall, showcasing both Steelers and Panthers history, Heinz field is an impressive landmark for the city of Pittsburgh. 3 Lincoln Financial Field The Philadelphia Eagles partnered with Lincoln Financial Group to construct the $512 million stadium, Lincoln Financial Field. Seating up to 67,594 fans, Lincoln Financial field is home to the football programs of the Philadelphia Eagles, Temple University s Owls and Philadelphia s new major league soccer team the Philadelphia Union. Lincoln Financial Field is also used as a concert venue and has hosted international soccer matches. Replacing the old Veterans Stadium, Lincoln Financial Field has solidified its existence in the southern part of the footballobsessed city of Philadelphia. Dealer/Installer: Crown Corr, Gary, Ind. Home originally to the Seattle Seahawks; it was named Seahawks Stadium until the stadium partnered with Qwest Telecommunications in The stadium was built to both NFL and FIFA specifications in order to be able to also house Seattle s soccer team, Sounders FC. With a total capacity of 67,000 seats for NFL games, and the option of expanding to 72,000 seats for special events, this $430 million complex is known for its noisy home field advantage atmosphere. Located just a few miles from the heart of downtown Seattle, Qwest field is an all purpose event center which exceeds expectations of Seattle residents. Construction cost $500 million and the stadium was completed in Ford Field was able to work into the design the structure of an old Hudson s warehouse which closed in order for the stadium to be built. Encompassing over 1.8 million square feet (167,220 m 2 ) with a seating capacity of 65,000, Ford Field is more than a football stadium; the complex houses restaurants, office space, retail space and banquet facilities. 4 Special Feature Invesco Field at Mile High Partnering with Invesco Ltd., the Denver Bronco s built their new football stadium, Invesco Field at Mile High. Construction for the $400 million stadium was completed in 2001, surpassing the old Mile High Stadium in many aspects but respect was paid to the landmark stadium as the name suggests the essence of Mile High Stadium is still very much alive. With a capacity of 76,125, football is not the only event held at Invesco Field at Mile High. Home to Major League Lacrosse team the Denver Outlaws and frequently used as a major concert site, Denver has taken their legendary Mile High stadium into the next generation of entertainment venues. The up-to-date aesthetics fit perfectly with the more than 50 years of football tradition. The $295 million renovation took this stadium from football stadium to event complex. Lambeau Field now contains the five-story 366,000 square foot (34,001 m 2 ) Lambeau Field Atrium complete with 25,000-square-foot (2,323-m 2 ) Packers Hall of Fame, unique restaurants and corporate meeting facilities. With no principal partner, Lambeau Field has corporate sponsored entry gates. Used mainly for football games, this renovated 72,928 seat stadium is ready to take on the next 50 years of football history. 5 Reliant Stadium Part of the massive Reliant Park complex, Reliant Stadium is the first ever football/rodeo stadium to utilize a retractable roof. Partnering with Reliant Energy, the Houston Texans built the state of the art $352 million, 71,500 seat stadium. The 1.9 million square foot (176,510 m 2 ) Reliant Stadium has the ability to hold concerts and other special events for the Houston area. With the other surrounding stadiums within Reliant Park, Reliant Stadium has become a standout of innovation and exciting entertainment for the Houston area. Dealer/Installer: Crown Corr, Gary, Ind. Bears football may be the primary event, but Soldier Field, with a capacity of 62,000, also holds major concerts, NCAA football games and even a few international soccer matches. Used primarily as the home field for the NFL team, the Arizona Cardinals, the University of Phoenix stadium also annually hosts the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl, a BCS bowl game. With a revolutionary retractable playing surface, the all-natural grass field can be fully retracted out of the stadium, eliminating the chance of damage to the playing surface as the stadium holds its vast array of public and private events. The 63,400 seat stadium can be expanded to 72,200 seats for special occasions and games, such as the BCS National Championship (2007) or the NFL Super Bowl (2008). The stadium is meant to resemble the ubiquitous barrel cactus, and encompassing 1.7 million square feet (157,930 m 2 ), this facility also has a youth sports complex on its grounds.
