1 DEPARTMENT OF THE ARMY Office of the Chief of Chaplains 2700 Army Pentagon Washington DC REPLY TO ATTENTION OF DACH-ISZ 30 November 2011 MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION SUBJECT: Chaplaincy Multi Discipline Training (CMDT) DACH The Chief of Chaplains has directed the Director of Sustainment and Information to conduct the Chaplaincy Multi-Discipline Training (CMDT) which will include: a. Family Life Chaplains (FLC) Training b. Directors of Religious Education (RE) Training c. Sustainment and Information (SI) Training 2. The FY12 CMDT will be conducted January Participants should arrive NLT 1700, 22 January 2012 and depart no earlier than 1400, 26 January Key leader meetings and training will be conducted January. Key leader events will be completed by 1200, 27 January. Key leaders will be identified and invited by the respective action officer for each discipline: FLC, CH (LTC) Scott Weichl, , DRE, Mr. Jack Anderson, ; SI, CH (LTC) Yvonne Hudson, , 3. Training Location: The Florida Hotel and Conference Center, 1500 Sand Lake Road, Orlando, FL 32809, ( Telephone: Training Objectives: a. FLC training provides chaplains with the skills required to offer effective ministry to Soldiers and Families. Family life chaplains are required to train unit chaplains in pastoral care and family ministry. The goal of family ministry is to ensure every Soldier and Family member can maintain emotional health and important relationships throughout the Soldier s life cycle in the military. Attendees receive continued professional development training using the Skill Training Program model. Participants receive training on current Soldier/Family ministry strategy, the Soldier Family Action Plan, and family life lessons learned. b. RE training will focus on providing innovative religious education and spiritual formation opportunities for Soldiers and Family members during all phases of the

2 ARFORGEN cycle. It will also address issues related to the growing religious upheaval that has been characterized as "The Great Emergence," and what unique challenges that presents for Army religious educators. c. SI training covers all functions related to chaplaincy logistics, information, resource and financial management. Specific instruction includes the Command Master Religious Plan (CMRP); internal controls; safeguarding and managing chapel tithes and offerings funds; religious facility construction, renovation; funding and management of CCH ministry grant programs and strategic communication tools. 5. Training Attendees: a. FLC training is strongly encouraged for all chaplains serving in coded Family Life positions, full-time National Guard support chaplains, and other chaplains in the National Guard and Reserve Components who are in Family Ministry-oriented positions.. b. DRE training is strongly encouraged for Directors of Religious Education from all components and chaplains leading religious education programs. c. SI training is strongly encouraged and considered vital for the HQDA Chaplaincy Sustainment and Information Team, CTOF Managers, USACHCS functional staff, and chaplain resource management officers/managers/rsros at IMCOM HQ and MEDCOM whose participation ensure adherence to fiduciary requirements. Others strongly encouraged to attend are chaplaincy representatives from ACOMs, ASCCs, and DRUs without chaplaincy resource managers to receive training on the new standard CMRP and on roles for ensuring effective chaplaincy program audit and oversight. Others who would benefit from training are garrison Resource Managers, IMCOM HQ and Region personnel supporting chaplaincy resourcing, and garrison chaplains. d. Enclosure 1 shows the list of invited attendees. Requests for others to attend as exceptions must be approved by the Director of SI prior to registering. 6. General information for the FY12 CMDT: a. Dates: January 2012 (some participants extended by exception). b. Travel Dates: 22 and 26 January 2012 (some earlier/later by exception) c. Registration/Sign-In/Packet Pick-Up: , 22 January d. 3 g. Hotel Reservations: Individuals must make their own hotel reservations. (1) The deadline for hotel reservations is NLT 21 December (2) Reserve your hotel room by going to the and clicking the Make Hotel Reservation link. (3) Please be advised that your government credit card will not be precharged for the deposit and will only be charged if you cancel the reservations within 72 hours of arrival or the reservation is no show. (4) The service fee has been reduced to $9.00 per night and will extend the following: Complimentary high speed internet in guest rooms, large refrigerator, safes, newspaper, 2 bottle waters daily, use of new 2,000 sq ft Fitness Center and Self Service Business Center, complimentary self parking. h. Hotel room rate: Prevailing per-diem amount for single or double occupancy. i. Hotel directions and conference hotel information are available at: j. Dress: Business casual attire for all events (Collared shirt and slacks). 7. Funding: All travel, lodging and per diem expenses are paid by the local command. IMCOM participants will receive guidance reference centralized funding from IMCOM HQ. 8. Training Registration: a. The training registration website is: Then click on the Register Now button. b. On-line registration opens 6 December 2011 and closes 18 January Registration fee: $10.00 is required. Credit cards will be used to make payment electronically. Use either appropriated funds (APF) government purchase cards (GPC) or government travel cards. Attendees may not use a non-appropriated CTOF GPC for registration purposes. a. Registration fees include costs associated with registration, audio/visual and internet, materials and supplies, security, and trainers. No meals or breaks will be provided for CMDT attendees. b. If paying by Government Travel Card, the following statement must be in the remarks section of your TDY orders to obtain reimbursement: Reimbursement of $10.00 registration fee is authorized. In DTS include the registration fee in the authorization 3

4 when entering non-mileage expenses. A receipt for the registration fee must be attached to your travel voucher after completion of TDY. c. If you are paying the registration fee by APF Government Purchase Card there is no registration reimbursement to the traveler. 10. Comments: Late hotel registrations could result in attendees finding alternate lodging accommodations or paying a rate above the allotted per diem rate.
