4 Introduction Compass Intelligence 2Q 2014 Reuse and Recycling Survey Over the past three years, Compass Intelligence has tracked the burgeoning mobile phone buy back and recycling market. We have witnessed older programs receive makeovers and new companies like Apple, Walmart and Microsoft launch device trade in options in the market. This survey offers our readers a chance to see whether end users are 1) taking advantage of the plethora of buyback offers; 2) selling back mobile devices or just recycling them; and 3) what the future holds for these programs as the market changes. 4
5 Survey Methodology This research was conducted online using the Compass Intelligence Thought Leaders Panel. The survey was conducted in April The survey involved 1,205 people who started the survey and a total of 1,102 completed it. The survey ran for nearly two weeks. Respondents were over the age of 18. All respondents were mobile phone users. 5
6 The in-store experience is the preferred channel. In addition, 44% of the respondents chose a carrier (online or in-store) to sell back.
