A typical analyst program is illustrated below with the investment banking analyst program Vault.com, Inc.
8 Program description: The investment banking financial analyst program is a two-year program in a specific industry coverage or product group selected at the conclusion of the training program. Financial analysts work in teams with peers and senior professionals on: Business development Prepare new business presentations Conduct fundamental industry research and quantitative analysis Review and organize financial data Develop quantitative analysis Financial analysis Use/develop financial models Stand-alone company valuation Discounted cash flow analysis Financing, comparative and pro forma analyses Transaction execution Interact with clients and various levels of management Act as an integral part of working team Presentation coordination Manage the firm s resources Training: The financial analyst training program is approximately five weeks in duration. The program is taught by staff as well as accounting professionals and consultants. There are classes in financial analysis, accounting, finance and general business concepts, as well as computer and firm resource training. Continuous training is providing throughout the two-year analyst program. Many financial analysts are invited to stay for a third year and many eventually become an associate. There are biannual reviews to ensure continued dialogue on performance and to set goals for future development. Qualifications: seeks individuals with an undergraduate degree and distinguished academic achievement, in addition to a high level of personal integrity, interest in finance, commitment to excellence, high level of energy and strong desire to learn.
