2 Who We Are Since 1966, The Consortium for Graduate Study in Management has worked to increase diversity in MBA programs and corporate America. The Consortium is an alliance of 18 top graduate MBA programs, approximately 75 corporate partners, over 800 students and a robust network of more than 8,500 alumni. Our mission serves to reduce the underrepresentation of African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans in American business and graduate business schools. The Challenge The MBA diversity pipeline is extremely fragile. Each year, approximately 10,000 students enter a top 50 full-time MBA program. In an average class size of 200 students, only 8% represent underrepresented minorities. Companies realize that having diverse talent within management is imperative to promote short-term and long-term financial performance. However, the race for talent has become extremely competitive due to the number of Fortune 1000 companies, non-profit organizations and the allure of entrepreneurship. The Opportunity Annually, The Consortium awards membership to over 400 candidates. The candidates encompass over 50% of the underrepresented population of students attending a top 50 MBA program. Since inception, we have extended approximately $300 million in fellowship support, resulting in the success of over 8,500 diverse MBAs. The Consortium alumni participate in special interest groups, representing expertise in numerous industries. Currently, we have approximately 75 corporate partners, leveraging the partnership to recruit top level MBA talent for internships. Many of the internships result in full-time employment. Additionally, by engaging our robust alumni network, corporate partners are able to recruit diverse MBA candidates with post-mba experience. The Competitive Advantage Every June, CGSM hosts our signature event, The Annual Orientation Program & Career Forum (OP). This five-day closed event brings together our member schools, corporate partners and students. Our early access and relationship-based model enables partners to continuously engage Consortium MBA candidates. Prior to OP, companies prescreen resumes and engage vetted students. While on site, student engagement opportunities include corporate branding and recruiting for various industries and functions. Companies who wait for campus recruiting usually experience challenges when seeking to recruit top-level diverse MBA candidates. Additionally, The Consortium Development team has extensive corporate experience in various functional areas and is a virtual extension of your talent acquisition team. The Consortium partnership along with the Orientation Program & Career Forum provide the competitive advantage for corporate partners to Connect, Cultivate and Convert top level diverse MBA talent throughout the entire year.
