2 Target group Senior civil servants employed in the higher service of EU member countries Seminar language: English Objectives Participants will familiarise themselves with the following: The German constitutional system and public administration Selected policy areas The fundamentals of Germany s European policy Contents Germany s state structure Tasks and procedures of institutions of the legislative and executive (Deutscher Bundestag, Bundesrat, Bundeskanzleramt, Landtag, Staatskanzlei, etc.) Germany s EU policy The role of a Bundesland (state) within Germany and Europe Study-trip to a Bundesland: Brandenburg view on: strategic assurance and support of skilled labour due to demographic development (Fachkräftesicherung) Counterpart visit Methods Field trips to selected institutions, one afternoon free for individual informational visits, discussion with course instructors and/or group discussion, as desired
