3 European Energy Forum Visit to the US Shale Gas and Nuclear Energy October At the request of its Active Members, the EEF organizes a visit to the US to discuss shale gas and nuclear issues. The visit will be supported by our Associate members Shell and Westinghouse. It is a pleasure to invite our members to join us on this visit. Rules for participating : Participants will have to cover the expenses relating flights and accommodation. The EEF and the hosts are not responsible for any flight booking. Visit related costs will be organized and paid for by the hosts. Subsistence costs are covered for participants when indicated in the programme. 4 Sunday 27 October - Williamsport, PA Programme afternoon Arrival of participants from different destinations. Possibility to take a shuttle from Philadelphia to the hotel in the afternoon. Evening welcome reception - informal meeting with a short introduction. Monday 28 October - Williamsport, PA Orientation and safety briefing at the hotel. Departure from hotel for shale gas visit in Tioga, Pennsylvania. Visit to drilling rig and hydraulic fracturing operation. Presentation of water management, air mitigation strategies, reduction surface disturbance. Briefings with technical specialists on water, air quality and drilling and community engagement. Meetings with regulators, local community representatives &/or NGOs. Dinner hosted by shale gas host - discussion with regulators, academia, NGOs. Tuesday 29 October - Washington, DC early morning Departure for Washington. The host proposed to organize a bus trip to Washington DC. This trip should take 4.30 hours. Lunch and Learn Event Energy Policy in Europe hosted by the Foundation of Nuclear Studies (attended by Capitol Hill Staff). Discussion on nuclear Meeting with Atoine Ripoll, Head of European Parliament Liaison Office with the US Congress. Meeting with Christian Burgsmüller, Counselor - Head of the Energy, Transport and Environment Section of the EU Delegation to the US. Check in at hotel and time to rest. Reception with Members of Congress at the Capitol Building.

5 Programme Wednesday 30 October - Washington, DC Breakfast meeting with the EU Delegation to the US - João Vale de Almeida, Ambassador/Head of Delegation at the hotel. General discussion about energy White House: Briefings with the Executive Offices of the President (National Security Council, Nuclear Energy Policy Office, Council on Environmental Quality etc.). Shale gas, nuclear as well as general topics will be covered Lunch with Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) Guest Speaker (Marv Fertel, President and CEO) at NEI Offices. Nuclear Energy Outlook in the US License Renewals Interagency Briefing with the Department of Energy (DoE) and Department of Commerce (DoC) Shale gas, nuclear as well as general topics should be covered evening Free evening Thursday 31 October - Charlotte, NC morning Due to logistical reasons you need to arrive in Charlotte, NC at the latest at 9.25 am. One possible flight is: 07:55 (US Airways) from Ronald Reagan Airport arriving in Charlotte, NC at 9.25 am.
