2 MVS Storage (MVSS) Project Our Purpose The MVSS project focuses on the management of storage resources throughout the enterprise and the facilities necessary to provide these functions. In z/os environments, DFSMS and all of the DFSMS components, Tivoli Storage Management products, and other vendor-developed (OEM) packages for providing these services are discussed. Among the many subjects covered are disaster recovery, data storage devices, data backup and archival systems and data integrity and recovery. We work closely with the SAN/Disk/Tape project to address topics related to storage hardware supported by z/os, Storage Area Networks, storage interfaces, and other storage hardware and software issues. The primary activities of the project include Sponsoring quality IBM, OEM, and user experience presentations at major SHAREs Requirements generation and prioritization Customer driven task forces and discussions that influence IBM regarding future storage management directions 3
