2 BIOGRAPHY 1 Elideusa Gomes Almeida (15 July 1994), who performs under the mononym Elideusa (el- LEE-DAYO-zuh), is a vocalist, multiinstrumentalist, composer, poet and songwriter, with a background in modeling and acting as well. She was born into a traditional Cape Verdean family (of West African and European descent) in Boston, MA, and was raised in the urban neighborhood of Dorchester. Although she writes in many styles and genres, her music can be described as R&B, with influences from poetry, jazz, hip-hop and soul. She has written over fifty poems and over one hundred songs. Elideusa discovered her passion for music while she was in the fourth grade, when she joined the school choir and later became part of the Boston City Singers in In 2006, she began studying classical violin and brass performance and composition at the Community Music Center of Boston. In 2010, Elideusa was awarded with a dual enrollment scholarship from Berklee College of Music, enabling her to begin taking classes at the prestigious and highly competitive institution while she was still enrolled in high school. By the time she was seventeen and graduated from the Boston Arts Academy, she had already completed over one year of college. Additionally, Elideusa is a very accredited songwriter in New England and has been recognized for her unique methods of incorporating figurative language into commercial music. In 2010, she was selected as a songwriter for the Red Cross Benefit Concert in Boston, MA. Upon winning the Young Composer's Competition in 2009, her song "The Truth" has been used in choreography workshops at Boston Ballet. In 2011, she was nominated for an Eco Art Award and was also rated best songwriter in Boston, MA by ReverbNation. In 2012, her songs Artificial Love and Your Embrace were selected as part of the Perfect Pitch Concert at Berklee. Elideusa was nominated for the Massachusetts Solo Artist Award in Elideusa has performed at world-renowned venues such as the TD Garden where she sang the National Anthem at both a Celtics vs. Clippers basketball game and a Celtics vs. Spurs basketball game. She has also performed the National Anthem at Fenway Park, where she performed it at a Red Sox vs. Royals baseball game. In 2013, Elideusa was a finalist in the Boston showcase with Hollywood Records and was the winner of the Toronto showcase with Warner Music Group. Elideusa is also a very experienced jazz vocalist; she has performed at the Cyclorama at the Boston Center for the Arts and at the Hynes Convention Center where she participated in the Berklee High School Jazz Festival for several years. Elideusa was the 2012 winner of the Young Artist Competition in partnership with the Boston Pops. During her performance at Symphony Hall, Boston Pops and Maestro Keith Lockhart recognized her for her dedication to and achievement in the jazz genre.

3 Furthermore, Elideusa has participated in clinics and/or performances with vocalists Nneenna Freelon, Gretchen Parlato, Lalah Hathaway and George Clinton (and P-Funk), violinist Regina Carter and bassist Victor Wooten. She has studied vocal jazz performance with Maggie Scott, jazz piano with Matt Jenson, and a range of vocal styles and techniques with Nichelle Mungo, Stan Strickland and Mili Bermejo, former private instructor of Esperanza Spalding. Blue Miller, a co-writer of India Arie, has also coached her. She has also performed with choirs at Berklee College of Music in collaboration with Richard Smallwood and Donald Harrison. Although Elideusa is a musician by profession, she enjoys modeling and acting and has a distinct passion for the general arts. Elideusa's modeling career started at the age of ten, when she was crowned state finalist at the 2005 Miss Teen Massachusetts Pageant and Competition. She also strutted down the runway at the Strand Theater in 2008, as part of a showcase of ethnic beauty. Elideusa has continued freelance modeling on the East Coast. Currently, Elideusa is a senior at Berklee College of Music, and is studying abroad at the Valencia, Spain, campus, where she is majoring in songwriting with an emphasis on piano, guitar and voice. She has also earned minors in Music Production & Engineering and Drama. She studies under the tutelage of songwriters such as Pat Pattison, Livingston Taylor and Melissa Ferrick. She continues to perform solo and with her live band, Moving Acoustics, throughout the U.S. 2
