10 our professional qualification The CIPFA Professional Qualification develops competencies that are central to the four main roles that finance professionals perform in modern organisations. The role of Steward is prominent in the modules that make up the Professional Certificate, with the roles of Enabler and Innovator and Business Partner more evident in the Professional Diploma stage. As well as technical and behavioural competences, the CIPFA Professional Qualification develops future leaders and the role of Leader is central to the Strategic stage. Steward Enabler & Innovator Business Partner Leader The qualification has three stages: < < Professional Certificate < < Professional Diploma < < Strategic Level Students must complete all three levels to become CPFA qualified. 11 The CIPFA Professional Qualification can take between six months to three years to complete, depending on existing qualifications and experience. Minimum entry requirements < < Level 3 NVQ or GNVQ, or Scottish equivalent < < GCSEs & A levels Minimum requirement is three GCSE passes A-C and two A-level passes from A-C (including Maths and English) Entry routes, exemptions and membership awards < < Graduates from a range of disciplines < < AAT qualified < < Part qualified accountant < < Fully qualified accountant from recognised professional accountancy bodies e.g. ACCA, CIMA etc. < < Chartered internal auditor (IIA) < < Senior finance professional who doesn t hold a professional accountancy qualification < < Bye law 5 membership for nominated accountants qualified with other bodies and of good standing within the sector < < Bye law 6 honorary membership for nominated professionals of good standing within the sector. 12 professional qualification We are launching a new and improved Professional Qualification in 2015 Based around four competency levels: Steward, Enabler & Innovator, Business Partner and Leader, the new PQ will: < Increase the focus on the wide range of commercial skills such as commissioning, contract negotiation, financial modelling, financial instruments, partnership working needed by UK public finance practitioners < Provide greater portability between the public and private sectors < Have more entry routes for holders from other qualifications and experienced professionals < Enhance the Practical Experience Portfolio (PEP) by placing greater emphasis on the role of the employer < Enable greater flexibility around blended and online learning options. 12 CIPFA key facts
