ENSURING WORKFORCE FOR ENERGY SECTOR Population growth and rising prosperity are creating a major challenge for the global energy system. Energy sector is one of the central pillars of economic growth and competitiveness, and of social and territorial cohesion in many part of the world. Energy is essential motor of growth and development for an ever increasing world population. Social and economic development can be attained only if a secure, reliable and affordable supply of energy is ensured To meet this growing demand, there is a strong and urgent need to develop sufficient levels of human capital and expertise for both existing and new sources of energy production. Investing in forward-looking education and training strategies, while taking into account the urgent requirements of the energy sector, will thus be an essential requirement for sustainable energy production Ensuring a skilled workforce for the energy sector is inseparable from other policy actions towards meeting growing energy demand. Today, human resource and personnel management issues are considered highly strategic matters. Studies on renewable energy show that renewable resources have the potential to create further employment opportunities in the near future. Renewable energy sources are more labor intensive than nuclear and fossil fuels.
KNOWLEDGE AND HRD The source of wealth is something specifically human: knowledge. Only knowledge allows us to achieve productivity and innovation. The emergence of knowledge and its application as the chief determinants of competitiveness may be considered by some countries which are industrializing only now or are seeking to move to the next stage of economic development Countries which have recognized and paid particular attention to developing human resources well in time, have been able to bypass different stages of industrialization Therefore, more than ever before, we need to plan for the future, which requires us to take stock of our current situation and to find ways to move ahead. Human Resource is the most Important and vital Factor of Economic Development or it can be said that humans are the agents of development.
ROLE OF HUMAN RESOURCES Human resources development is the process of increasing the knowledge, the skills, and the capacities of all the people in a society. The processes of human resources development unlock the door to modernization Today HRD is more important than before for competitiveness and socioeconomic development. Investment in education and training is the main key to progress from one level of economic development to another. It conveys the message that societies which do not gear themselves from now to learning, will find it difficult to progress beyond their present level of economic and social development. Recent efforts to overcome poverty and the problems it spawns have placed HRD at the top of many national development agendas. HRD is viewed as a crucial tool for building and maintaining the reservoir of skills needed for economic and social development Appreciate why human resource development is of strategic importance in the current business world.
HRD IN RENEWABLE ENERGY Compared to fossil power plants, renewable energy is expected to generate more jobs per unit of installed capacity and per unit of power generated The educational institutions need to lay importance on renewable energy education considering the all round growth of the renewable energy industry. These institutions need to take adequate steps to introduce renewable energy education at all levels of education system Advanced renewable technologies are relatively new and therefore proper educational infrastructure in the field of renewable energy technologies needs to be developed with coordinated efforts in the country.

SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT STUDY PROGRAM IN SGU
Studying Sustainable Energy and Environment (SEE) in SGU International scope University, in cooperation with Universities in Germany and Switzerland SGU has experience in running the Food Technology Study Program for around 10 years. To prepare the challenge of the world, to complete the world s concern, and to fulfil Indonesia s need, SGU set up a new program on Energy and Environment which will focus on energy, in particular renewable energy, environment and water resources.
NEW STUDY PROGRAM SUSTAINABLE ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENT Starting August 2014 Focus on Renewable Energy, Energy Conservation and Environment The opportunity to get Dual Degree from SGU and from EAH Jena Germany. The opportunity of doing practical work (internship) locally and overseas that will provide an extra edge in the job market The 3 rd year of the study will be in Germany for lectures and international Internship German students will come to SGU for Energy study The opportunity to get Scholarship from Pertamina Foundation Will pioneering Bachelor s study program in Indonesia that focus on both sustainable energy & environment
MAIN SUBJECTS Chemical Engineering Entrepreneurship Renewable Energy: Solar, Wind, and Hydro Bioenergy and Ocean Hydrogen and nuclear Energy Energy Management Energy Policy Energy Conservation and Audit Energy Modelling Decentralized Energy Supply Environmental Environmental Chemistry Waste Treatment & Resource Efficiency Environment & Process Metrology Water Purification Ecobalanced
Dual Degree Program Academic Collaboration Agreement between EAH Jena and SGU has been signed on May 8 th 2014, based on Consortium Agreement between German Universities and SGU. The Dual Degree Program on Energy and Environment will be held in both Universities, in EAH Jena in the study program Environmental Technology and Development and in SGU in the program Sustainable Energy and Environment. In this Dual Degree Collaboration: EAH Jena, will mainly provide subjects for environment, whereas SGU mainly will provide energy subjects, especially renewable energy and energy conservation. The syllabus has been agreed by both Universities.
SCHOLARSHIP MoU between Pertamina Foundation and SGU has been signed on March 27 th, 2014 Scholarship program Pertamina Beasiswa Sobat Bumi will be awarded to the best 20 students for 6 Semesters (1 st 6 th Semester). Pertamina offers 100% scholarship for 7 th and 8 th Semester (2 Semesters) if the students pass the test that is according to the recruitment test of Pertamina s employee. Recruitment possibility to be Pertamina s employee.
CAREER PROSPECTS Graduates of this program can be employed in all sectors, such as chemical, pharmaceutical, oil industries and in companies that place high priority on energy conservation and the environment as: Energy Manager, Consultants, Government Official/Regulator, Engineers, Entrepreneurs, Professionals, Specialists, etc.
CLOSING REMARKS Energy security is a must Energy sector is one of the central pillars of economic growth and competitiveness. To meet this growing demand, there is a strong and urgent need to develop sufficient levels of human capital and expertise for both existing and new sources of energy production. Ensuring a skilled workforce for the energy sector is inseparable from other policy actions towards meeting growing energy demand. Human Resource is the most important and vital factor of economic development. Important factors to develop renewable energy are: government policy and regulations, renewable energy resources, technology, funding and human resources. SGU provide new study program on Sustainable Energy and Environment in cooperation with German s University, starting August 2014.
