3 1/5 What is LWT Lindoe Welding Technology A/S (LWT) is a one of a kind facility for test and development of new production methods. The technological pivot is a very powerful commercially available laser system. LWT is established to assist customers and stakeholders develop their business. In order to do so, we need to be at the technological forefront; this is why at least 15 % of LWTs work will be devoted to projects focusing on research, development, innovation and/or industrialization. LWTs high-power laser will be an important contribution to Europe s scientific infrastructure. LWT is established as a collaboration between FORCE Technology and LORC.

15 Some general comments Comment 1: The h/b-ratio (h: height, b: width) of the excess material of a weldment made by high power laser is typically large in comparison to conventional welding techniques (such as SAW). This fact is acknowledged, and mitigated, in the standard: EN ISO :1997 as the h-values for laser welded joints are less than those accepted for arc-welded joint (EN ISO 5817:2007). Still, it may be suggested to grind of excess weld material for laser welded joints. Comment 2: A laser welding solution might call for elaborate specification on the plate steel. I.e. the Phosphor concentration need to be considered and kept low.
