We have had a very busy, productive and successful year. As the year draws to a close I would like to thank the entire school community for a wonderful year. Whole School Excursion To Waterworld This excursion was a huge success with students having a wonderful time on the day. The weather and facilities were outstanding. We have had very positive feedback from students, parents and staff. Summer Celebration According to many staff and families our Summer Celebration was one of the best we have had. The weather was perfect. The students did an outstanding job performing. We had a wonderful variety of items and our 3 senior students Trae, Tahlia and Jamie, who were the Pilot and Travellers who lost their luggage, did a brilliant job. Staff worked hard to prepare their classes for the performances. Terence, Alison and Sam put many hours into organising and coordinating everything in the lead up to the night. The Canteen and OSHC Sausage Sizzle were a huge success with profitable sales. A great night was had by all!! End Of Year Student Reports Student Reports are being sent home Wednesday. All classes for 2016 are finalized and this information is on the reports. Staffing 2016 I am pleased to announce that the following contract teachers will be with us again in 2016: Laura Clarson, Nicole Blackmore, Dora Corso, Leeanne Elphick, Marie Rundle, Emily Paterson, Alison Noble, Louise Nickson and Nicole Michael. We wish Adrian Martin all the best for his long service leave in 2016 and we look forward to hearing about his adventures when he returns in We are sad to be saying goodbye to: Becki Hughes who will be working at Burton Primary School next year and Jane Fuller who will be working at Fairview Park Primary School. Sarou Theav our Khmer BSSO and Jacqui Walsh and Judy Schwidder who are both looking forward to retirement. We wish you all the very best on your new adventures and thank you for your dedicated service to Settlers Farm Campus R-7. You will all be greatly missed!!!! Thank You I would like to say a big thank you to all of our community members who have volunteered in some way during this year. Your good will adds so much to the opportunities that we can provide for our students. Whether the support is regularly in a classroom, sports coaching, SAPSASA, in our canteen, on an excursion, for a community event or in some other way, it is very much appreciated. To our Year 7s and families moving on from Settlers Farm, I wish you all the best for the future. 2 P a g e 2 From the Senior Leader Curriculum What a year for learning at Settlers! Curriculum initiatives promoting higher achievement and engagement for students remained the focus of 2015 with attention on what it means to be a powerful learner at our Campus. The defining characteristics of passion for learning and confidence, independence and resilience together with the ability of students to adopt a collaborative problem solving disposition highlights our continuing resolve to provide quality curriculum. For example, to enhance our Maths teaching, staff worked with Ann Baker to deliver Natural Maths strategies that ensured Maths lessons incorporated real world problem solving concepts that strengthened student s ability to look at things from different angles to work collaboratively to apply logic and to think creatively to master concepts of Maths. Settlers Farm Campus has continued to embrace a strong Kids Matter philosophy of encouraging parents, carers and community by proactively involving them in our student s teaching and learning. We had great support especially through our help with major school events like The Oz Asia Moon Lantern Festival, Harmony and Reconciliation Days, Sports days and our recent Summer Celebrations. We acknowledge, value and thank our parents, carers and community for their contribution. Jason Saxby MOON LANTERN FESTIVAL From the Senior Leader ICT With the demands of every day life, we often rush through our days and forget to reflect on just how much good work we do. I d like to acknowledge all the wonderful work parents do with their children and reflect a little on all the events we now see as routine. From volunteering, the School Expo, Harmony Day, Premier s Reading and Be Active Challenges, transition, camp, excursions, Summer Celebration, the whole school Waterworld excursion, Acquaintance Night, parent-teacher interviews, assemblies, committees, etc., etc., etc., Settlers Farm is an incredibly busy place. It s a credit to the entire Settlers Farm community that we manage to get through all the demands of school life respectfully and collaboratively. We are heading into a festive period where we all get to spend time with loved ones. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy new year. 3 P a g e 3 From the Counsellor As this year draws to a close, I would like to recognise all the hard work everyone does to make SFC a real community. The school has continued on its KidsMatter journey and working to build the understanding in students of their social and emotional learning. We have been fortunate enough to support student well-being this year through programs such as; the Breakfast Club, on site counselling with Baptist Care and UniSA Masters student, Friday social skills groups working on friendship, transition and self regulation. We look forward to continue to offer programs and connect families with services who can offer support next year. On a personal note, it has been a privilege to win the role of Senior Leader, Student Well Being for the next three years. This will allow me to continue working with students, families and teachers to enhance the learning environment, build positive wellbeing in students and support them become powerful learners. I hope everyone has a safe, relaxing holiday and you get to slow down to enjoy the little things that make memories special. I know I am looking to spending some quality time with my own children and maybe even sleeping in! I look forward to connecting with students and families in Maureen Williams Student Leadership and Student Engagement This year at Settlers Farm Campus students have had many opportunities to develop their leadership skills. We have had students participating as Peer Mediators, Road Crossing Monitors, Canteen Helpers, Library Tribe and Recycling Monitors also saw the introduction of Student Action Teams (SATS). Many students R-7 applied to be on a SAT and worked in teams to develop programs across the school. These opportunities have enabled us to increase student voice at SFC as well as develop student s leadership skills R-7. NETBALL CLUB This year students have had many opportunities to be involved in Lunch Time Activities such as Big Games, Ipad sessions, JP Fun, the Fairy Garden and Gardening, to name a few. A group of dedicated year 6 students also organised and ran Netball clinics for students at lunch times. Next year we will be adding more choices to the lunch time activities to continue to increase student engagement at play times has been a very successful year for the students at SFC and we look forward to continuing to strengthen Student Voice at SFC next year. 4 P a g e 4 CONGRATULATIONS Emily Warner won Northern Territory Calisthenics Connor Callaghan Hot shots Tennis Singles Winner Tamika Brooks won 1st Place Champion in Backstroke This year Settlers Farm Campus was invited to take part in a region wide competition. Leesa Vlahos, our local member for Taylor, invited students from the Northern Area community to submit their entries of a picture depicting the Christmas spirit. We had a number of students receive honourable mentions which is an excellent acknowledgement of participation. We were also informed that the winner of the competition was a student from our school. Congratulations to Klara Lenkiewicz from E03 who received a $100 voucher for her efforts. Klara s picture will be the face of postcards/christmas cards sent by Leesa to members of our community. Well done to all who participated.

5 P a g e 5 T-BALL CARNIVAL 46 students from years 3 5 were selected to participate in a T-Ball carnival at Northern Districts Baseball Club where Adelaide Bites players were coaching our 4 teams. Landon Hernandez had been to our school to conduct two training sessions and more took place with Adrian and Martha in PE lessons to prepare our students. Our teams performed brilliantly and displayed our school values throughout the day. It was great to see some families there too to cheer on our teams. Martha and Adrian LOST PROPERTY C04 has been taking part in Roadwatch. Roadwatch is cleaning up streets around our School and helping KESAB. This is what we have found over 2015: glass, bottles, trolleys, junk food packaging, apples, tissues, cigarette butts, wine bottles and money. We walk along Barassi Street and Ronaldo Way. Our class helps KESAB to make our school look beautiful!! Our lost property is overflowing. If your child has misplaced a jacket, hat, lunchbox or drink bottle please come and go through the pile outside the office. We also still have a few towels from our Waterworld excursion. By Maddison Whitaker and Hannah We are very proud of our Students at Settlers Farm Campus. These R-2 Students received Merit Certificates at the Early Years Assembly on the 1st of December for demonstrating our values of Respect, Responsibility and Personal Best.

Aimed at ages 7-12, T20 Blast runs one night a week for 10 weeks throughout Term 1, and is the perfect introduction to playing matches and continuing to learn skills.
