2 Who we are The main objective of the Communications & Marketing Program is to raise awareness of city services and programs to residents, businesses and visitors of the community. We work to create and maintain a positive City image, including, but not limited to, monitoring the usage of all identifying marks, logos and seals. Communications & Marketing assists Department representatives to create consistent and professional internal and external communications including print and digital mediums and serves as the main point of contact for all media and public relations. Support will be provided to City Departments in order to increase cost recovery and participation of the business community in city-wide events and programs. Communications & Marketing is also responsible for the administration of the City's website (Largo.com) as well as Largo Television (LTV). LTV airs the City Commission and Board Meetings as well as producing programming and videos that highlight services and programs within Largo and the extended community. Our objective The Communications & Marketing Program will make an outreach to City Departments informing them of the services provided in order to enhance individual efforts which reach out to the community, businesses, visitors and media outlets. Communications & Marketing will create procedures including a training program for content providers of Largo.com in order to enhance the City's website and increase its importance as a primary source of information and news for the City of Largo. Support will be provided to City Departments in order to increase cost recovery and participation of the business community in city events and programs. Communications & Marketing will also create guidelines and provide recommendations in regards to the City's image and use of logos and markings that identify the City as an organization and community of respect and quality. 3 Meet the team Jonathan Evans Assistant to the City Manager Jonathan possesses a Masters Degree in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida. As part of his daily responsibilities, he oversees the Communications & Marketing operations for the City of Largo as well as serves as the Public Information Officer. (727) ext (727) Kate O Connell Communications & Marketing Supervisor Kate received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Youngstown State University. In June of 2009, Kate assumed the role of supervisor of all day to day operations within Communications & Marketing. (727) ext Brandon Graham Multimedia Supervisor Since joining Largo in 2001, Brandon has served as Video Production Asst., Largo Police Public Info. Officer and Video Production Specialist before becoming TV Station Supervisor. He earned a Bachelor's from USF and is a Certified Broadcast Television Engineer. (727) ext Georgia Wildrick Production Assistant Georgia earned a BA in graphic design and has worked as a professional scenic artist at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, Staats Theatre Hanover in Germany and Basler Stadt Theatre in Switzerland. (727) ext Wayne S. Williams Multimedia Technician Wayne has been in media productions since 1986, from TV technical director, to award winning 3D animator, photographer, and print media designer. Wayne's lifelong passion is poetry, which he follows by writing, teaching and hosting a monthly open mic venue. (727) ext Kathy Lam Communications & Marketing Specialist Largo Cultural Center Kathy obtained a Masters Degree in Business Administration from USF and is currently responsible for the overall marketing activities and implementation of marketing plans for the Largo Cultural Center. (727) ext Kevien Eliazer Communications & Marketing Specialist City-wide Kevien received his Bachelor of Science in Communications, specializing in Graphic Design, from Liberty University in Lynchburg, VA. Kevien also works as a freelance designer for local and national corporations. (727) ext Kristen Proach Communications & Marketing Specialist Largo Recreation, Parks & Arts Kristen received a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from Miami University in In August 2009, Kristen came on board to serve as the Marketing Specialist for the City's Recreation, Parks and Arts Department. 4 How to submit a project The Communications & Marketing Program is a proud service partner for departments within the City of Largo to promote services, programs and initiatives. Authorized department contacts can begin a project with Communications & Marketing by submitting the most applicable form found at under special topics Marketing Request. If you have any questions, please contact your department s Marketing Specialist or call (727) For a Marketing Request (i.e. Brochure, Press Release) For Event/Program Marketing (i.e. 4th of July Celebration, Fire Rescue Open House) Photo/Video Request Form (i.e. Service Award Photos, Commission Presentation) Resources Download Logos Logos are available for download on under the subtitle Logos and Images including the City Seal, City Script, Play!, Largo Recycles and more. Logos are provided as PDFs and vector based files. For other requests, contact your department s Marketing Specialist. Identity Standards The City of Largo Seal and other logos are trusted symbols used for identification. It is critical that indentity standards be followed in a consistent manner to protect, maintain and enhance our city image and reputation. The Identity Standards Manual can be found on the city system under City Information and Info for GO. Grammar Guide The Grammar Guide answers questions about grammar formatting and rules as they should be applied, and/or as we wish to apply them within the City of Largo. This guide will allow those creating promotional or communication pieces, to be consistent across all of the work produced and can be found on the city system under City Information and Info for GO. Webguide Tips, tools and techniques about egov and editing Largo.com can be found on the city system under City Information and Info for GO. Photo Class Communications & Marketing have developed a half-day course in event photography. 5 Timelines/Project planning Please note: These are production times only. Allow for time to properly distribute or advertise your program. When projecting your marketing needs, allow a minimum of two months for all event marketing and a minimum of one month for other marketing requests. Expedited services are available per Department Director s request. Any request needed in less than two weeks may be considered a rush job. *Rush jobs require a Director s signature (submit signed form to your Marketing Specialist). 6 Largo Television Largo TV is the video production and multimedia services arm of Communications & Marketing and provides a 24/7 source of City information and news. Our mission Utilizing visual media to connect with and empower viewers through educational, informative and entertaining content about Largo events, programs and services. Where to view LTV? Behind the scenes, LTV also provides general audio/video support to City departments, presentation assistance, media duplication/distribution, and assistance to the Communications & Marketing Program managing Largo.com and our social media outlets. Specifically, LTV programs and services include: Live City Commission Meetings Live City Commission Work Sessions Live Code Enforcement Board Meetings Live Planning Board Meetings Event videos that capture the highlights of Largo events and are delivered primarily to a web audience through YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Largo.com Public Service Announcements or commercials that advertise events Special video projects designed to educate viewers about specific topics or features Largo vnews features interviews with city staff and on occasion other guests promoting events, programs and services In Focus features interviews with elected officials, leadership staff and local business leaders. Topics include meeting local leaders, discussion of the local economy and information about the budget process Largo Outdoors which takes produced material from various agricultural and environmental sources and puts them together into one program designed for lovers of the outdoors LTV can also loan out video cameras on a limited basis, to departments that wish to video record special events or programs.
