OUR MISSION We want to shape the future of our world with you through consulting, education and climate protection projects. Dedicated myclimate emerged in 2002 from a project by students and professors at the ETH Zurich. The organisation quickly grew into a professional and global climate protection foundation. The operational management is based in Zurich with a team of more than 50 staff members. They all share an innovative spirit and exceptional personal commitment to our vision: a society that provides a high quality of life yet does not produce more than one to two tonnes of CO 2 per person, per year. Customer-oriented Climate protection is not an ideology; it s an obligation. So we take a broadbased approach to avoid, reduce and offset CO 2 emissions. According to the motto of Do your best offset the rest, we are convinced that each of us has a part to play in slowing down climate change. Thanks to many years experience at local and global level, we understand the needs of our diverse partners and take these into account in market-ready projects. Together, we look for practical solutions to achieve measurable impact. Successful By 2015, myclimate had prevented the emission of three million tonnes of CO 2 in total. Around 1.8 million people s daily lives are being improved by our projects. The experts at myclimate have calculated the emissions for more than 1,000 products and completed more than 100 carbon footprints for businesses. We now reach around 6,000 schoolchildren and trainees each year in Switzerland. 1,600 students and young professionals are already linked-up members of the global myclimate YES community. It is our duty to take action now to protect the climate. myclimate offers concrete solutions. Together with our customers, partners, donors and friends, for years we have successfully dedicated ourselves to effective climate protection both at local and global level. René Estermann, CEO of myclimate
Education Through our interactive and action-oriented educational programmes and projects, we encourage everyone to make a contri bution towards the future. Consulting and solutions We advise companies on integrated climate protection with tangible added value. This is done through analyses, IT solutions, awards and resource management. Climate protection projects With our projects of the highest quality, we promote measurable climate protection and sustainable development worldwide.
The Energy & Climate Pioneers project inspires children and young people to take action.
EDUCATION Through our interactive and action-orientated educational programmes and projects, we encourage everyone to achieve future. Action-oriented myclimate Education has been success fully realising projects aimed at schoolchildren and young people, apprentices and students, their teachers and the general public for more than 10 years. Our interactive educational services deliver action-oriented knowledge relating to climate change and climate protection to the relevant target group. Well-founded and flexible Our education experts work according to sound scientific principles and are guided by facts. They also take direction from the principles of education for sustainable development. Our programmes are always practical and entertaining, while also offering profound insights into their subjects. They are not just designed to communicate important messages; they should also be fun and enjoyable and motivate people to get involved. Best networks Alongside our own projects and programmes, we are an active member of national and international associations. Our goal is to build an international network of active climate protectors. Already over 1,600 students and young professionals in more than 140 countries have signed up to the myclimate YES community. Through our education work we enable children and young adults to find their own solutions to climate problems. The enthusiasm that they show for their projects proves that we are creating a real experience with long-term impact. Karin Spori, Deputy Climate Education Unit Manager
Energy and Climate Pioneers myclimate s partner Swisscom launched its Energy and Climate Pioneers initiative in 2010, giving classes of schoolchildren the opportunity to realise their own projects that promote the sustainable use of energy and resources. Children and young people learn from myclimate that they can take action themselves and contribute to the climate-friendly future of energy. The initiative also has EnergieSchweiz and Solar Impulse as partners. Energy and Climate Laboratory The myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory is a project competition for schools and businesses. It combines youthful creativity with well-founded knowledge about the environment, energy and the climate. Apprentices from all over Switzerland invent products and launch projects that reduce CO 2, are energy-efficient or serve to boost awareness for sustainable development. The best projects win a highly awarded prize. Audio Adventures Our Audio Adventures are a kind of acoustic journey of discovery. They can be downloaded to a smartphone and give users some fascinating insights into geography, history and climate protection in the region where they are travelling. These Audio Adventures use local examples to show how it is possible to live a climate-friendly yet gratifying everyday life. myclimate Audio Adventures are available in more than ten touristic locations across Switzerland. We learned how to question our daily routines and actions that we take for granted. It s time for us to rethink our energy-hungry everyday lives. This is the only option if we want to have any hope for a greener future! Benjamin & Patrick, third-year apprentices Apprentices present their idea to the project market at the Energy and Climate Laboratory. myclimate Audio Adventures deliver information and anecdotes about climate change and local history.
+ Since 2013, myclimate has run the international network and course YES. With over 1,600 alumni from 140 countries, we have access to significant potential for global societal change. As part of the myclimate Energy and Climate Laboratory, more than 6,000 Swiss apprentices have realised over 450 projects on climate protection and energy use since Thanks to the Energy and Climate Pioneers initiative, myclimate has so far reached more than 12,000 children of primary school age, boosting their awareness of climate and energy matters, expanding their knowledge and inspiring them to take action. A participant from Thailand presents the results of her workshop at the Swiss YES course 2015.
myclimate offers a comprehensive range of consulting services and solutions for companies of all sizes and in all industries.
CONSULTING AND SOLUTIONS We advise companies on integrated climate protection with tangible added value. This is done through analyses, IT solutions, awards and resource management. Professional CO 2 management The myclimate portfolio ranges from simple emissions calculations at corporate level through to comprehensive life cycle assessments for products. We also offer reporting and integrated resource management. We help companies identify and capture potential to reduce their use of energy and resources, as well as CO 2 emissions and costs. myclimate also offers support and advice on verifying reports for example, in accordance with the widely accepted standards Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Carbon Disclosure Project, Global Reporting Initiative and ISO Smart industry solutions Every industry has specific needs. That s why myclimate offers comprehensive industry solutions that combine CO 2 and resource management with offsetting and labelling solutions. For example, myclimate has developed tools for the printing and packaging industry, tour operators and the hotel industry. These tools are already used by numerous industry members and their umbrella organisations. Climate strategies with potential myclimate supports companies in embedding climate protection and resource efficiency in their corporate strategy. First, we work together to define objectives and system limits. We then compile relevant data in order to analyse the current situation. This gives companies an overview of key sources of emissions and enables them to institute appropriate measures for improvements and hence cost savings. myclimate supports companies throughout the entire process as well as in individual analyses and assessments. Working with sustainability pioneers from different industries is fascinating to me. They are extremely driven to position themselves as more climate-friendly and more efficient market player. Here at myclimate we are happy to support them in improving their eco-efficiency in the long term. Julian Meitanis, Consulting and Solutions Project Lead
Proven software tools Next to tailor-made consulting myclimate offers a range of sophisticated software tools. These include online calculators, such as the flight calculator for calculating and offsetting flight emissions, a web-based booking platform for climate-neutral products, and sustainability software for the calculation of carbon footprints and comprehensive carbon management. A credible label The myclimate label distinguishes organisations, products and events as climate-neutral. Using the tracking number, you can go online at any time to see in which climate protection project the emissions are being offseted. This creates transparency and reinforces customers trust in us. Lower costs In addition to calculating CO 2 emissions, myclimate offers Swiss companies professional support in improving their energy and resource efficiency. There is a special focus on reducing costs. That is why myclimate is involved in the network reffnet.ch, Switzerland s resource efficiency network supported by the Swiss Federal Office for the Environment (SFOE). We ve always been proud of the quality of our beer. myclimate s CO 2 calculation showed us how to make the brewing process more eco-friendly without compromising the product. We went one step further with our much-loved Quöllfrisch bottles, and offset the remaining emissions in a climate protection project. That means you can enjoy our beer climate-neutrally. Hans Sonderegger, Co-Owner of Locher Brewery The myclimate label on a product conveys high credibility. Professional experts give advice in the three fields of CO 2 emissions, energy efficiency and resource efficiency.
+ myclimate has developed specialised tools for tour operators, the printing and packaging industry, and the hotel industry that are already used by many industry members and their umbrella organisations. Thanks to individual tracking numbers, the climate-neutral with myclimate label allows our partners to clearly indicate their commitment to climate protection in a way that is highly recognisable and offers a real communication advantage. Our team of consultants has broad expertise in lifecycle assessments, carbon footprint analysis, environmental KPIs and reporting (GHG, CDP, GRI, UMS). We also have a top-notch external partner network that is ideally suited to answer any questions relating to CO 2, energy and resource management. myclimate worked with the printing and packaging industry to develop an industry solution.

CLIMATE PROTECTION PROJECTS With our projects of the highest quality, we promote quantifiable climate protection and long-lasting development worldwide. Global and diverse So far, myclimate has developed more than 70 climate protection projects in around 30 countries. These projects foster the use of renewable energies, realise energy efficiency measures and reduce methane emissions. We also evolve reforestation and new forestation initiatives to relieve the pressure on natural forests and habitats that encourage biodiversity. Measurable and transparent myclimate is committed to the extremely transparent and effective use of funds. We only invest in projects that achieve tangible, measurable and sustainable success. At least 80 percent of offset payments are used directly in climate protection projects. Outstanding quality myclimate is a pioneer in project development and has become one of the leading climate protection pioneers with a global presence. We set global standards by excellent quality. All of our climate protection projects meet the highest international standards, such as CDM (Clean Development Mechanism), Gold Standard and Plan Vivo. For climate protection projects in Switzerland, we are steered by the strict guidelines issued by the Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN). myclimate focuses on international knowledge transfer and so works with committed local project partners. They have the ideas, local knowledge and contacts; myclimate has the knowhow and experience in project development and accreditation, as well as monitoring and reporting. Franziska Heidenreich, Climate Protection Projects Unit Manager
Sustainability included Our projects are not just for climate protection; they are designed to be holistic and sustainable: the local population benefits from social, economic and environmental improvements, such as a better quality of life or better health, job creation and knowledge and technology transfer. Customized support For organisations that want to launch their own climate projects, myclimate offers individual modules for certification in line with various standards. Our expertise covers the entire project circle, from the idea up to issuing CO 2 certificates. Swiss projects Of course, myclimate also realises projects in Switzerland. And we support climate protection programmes and projects in accordance with guidelines issued by the Federal Office for the Environment and the Swiss Federal Office for Energy. myclimate supports project owners and implementers with project development as well as the purchase and sale of official certificates. We fully support the principle of offsetting and hold ourselves and our customers accountable. myclimate gives us the chance to realise real climate protection in key travel regions. For example, we worked with myclimate to develop the Composting in Bali project. With this project, we can show our demanding customers first-hand the positive impact that climate protection projects have. Matthias Leisinger, Head of Corporate Responsibility Kuoni In this project, local craftsmen in India build efficient biomass stoves. These solar stoves are easy on the climate as well as on the last remaining forests on the once verdant island of Madagascar.
+ We have projects located on every continent and work with eleven different technologies. So far, myclimate projects have saved more than 160 million litres of diesel. Each year they reduce CO 2 emissions by one million tonnes. We have protected 12,825 hectares of forest against logging and have reforested 185 hectares of land. Our projects have created around 6,500 jobs and provide education to children in dozens of countries in all over the world. In total, 1.8 million people benefit directly from our projects in their day-to-day lives. This farmer has planted hundreds of trees as part of a community reforestation programme in Nicaragua.
DO YOUR BEST OFFSET THE REST! Seize the opportunities you have to reduce your carbon footprint here and now! The unavoidable rest can be offset in high-quality projects. It takes all of us Protecting the climate demands a commitment from everybody private individuals, organisations and businesses. Wherever and whoever you are, there is always something effective that you can do. For example: --Use energy efficiently and opt for renewable energies. Be a climate-friendly consumer. --Support local and global climate protection initiatives. --Boost your company s profile with a long-term commitment to climate protection. --Install a sustainability strategy and adapt your offering accordingly. It s about responsibility What makes a difference to our climate is not where we avoid greenhouse gases but how much. So do your best and offset the rest in one of our high-quality climate projects! This is one way to consciously accept responsibility for the impact of your actions. Stick to the polluter-pays principle to support the climate and sustainable development around the world. Every kilo counts The circles on these pages show just how much CO 2 one person can save each year in their daily life. As you can see, it s not so difficult to relieve the pressure on our atmosphere. Wherever and however you make a commitment, myclimate is your professional partner for effective climate protection. We work with you to shape our future. 125 kilos Adopt an economic driving style and keep your tyres at the optimum pressure. 45 kilos Only air rooms for short time periods and don t leave windows tilted open in winter.
600 kilos Switch from a conventional electricity mix to electricity produced from renewable sources. 50 kilos Eat a vegetarian lunch at least once a week. 70 kilos For one week each month, buy seasonal, regional vegetables and no products grown in heated greenhouses kilos Cut your daily shower from ten minutes to five minutes. 900 kilos Leave the car at home: cycle or walk distances of less than five kilometres. These figures and the size of the circles highlight just some of the steps a person in Switzerland can take to save certain amounts of CO 2 per year on average.
