4 Transfers Made Easy Transfers Made Easy How to get to your connecting flight at Frankfurt Airport quickly and comfortably. Should I allow for extra time for passport and security checks? Do you already have a boarding pass for your connecting flight? In most cases, on your way between planes you will have to pass through security and passport checks. Please allow enough time for them. If you are in a hurry to catch your connecting flight, you can save time by using one of the Fast Lanes at the security check. Monitors at the checkpoints list the current flights for which passengers may use a Fast Lane. Yes. Please double-check the gate indicated on it. Current information on your flight is available on the monitor screens. If no gate has been assigned yet, head for the indicated pier (A, B, C, etc.). No. If you are inside the transit zone, please go to a transfer desk of the airline operating your connecting flight or ask at an information desk. If you are in the pre-security part of the airport, you can obtain a boarding pass at your airline s check-in counter. Please observe the restrictions on carrying liquids in your carry-on luggage. There are long trails for hiking or jogging and a large adventure play area for children. You can get there in just 15 minutes by bus no. 62 from Terminal 1 or 2 get off at Rheinlandstrasse. Explore Frankfurt on Your Own Tour 2 From the airport s regional train station, you can reach central Frankfurt in only 15 minutes by suburban train (S-Bahn) S 8 or S 9. If you d like to combine convenient, free access to all of Frankfurt with numerous discounts for the Palmengarten botanical garden, ship rides, etc., we recommend that you purchase the Frankfurt Card. By Bus to Frankfurt and Its Surroundings Tour 3 Travel by bus to the historic and modern parts of Frankfurt: see the towers that used to form part of the city wall, the skyscrapers of the banking district, and the Alte Oper. 21 Tax Refunds 1. Prerequisites for a refund Obtain a tax exemption form from the shop. Fill it out completely (using the Latin alphabet). Price Benefits for Visitors Who Live Outside the EU What is VAT? All merchandise sold in Europe is subject to a so-called value-added tax (VAT). In Germany, there are two VAT rates: 7% and 19%. If you visit the European Union (EU) but live elsewhere, you can get a refund on any VAT spent when leaving. This makes it quite a bit cheaper for you to make purchases in Germany, compared to EU residents. Our tip: Make VAT-free purchases at Frankfurt Airport You can obtain advice, information, and assistance for making VAT-free purchases in any shop at Frankfurt Airport. In the duty-free shops, value-added tax has already been eliminated from the prices. 2a.
