1 Online License Renewal Instructions Step 1: Using Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome (DO NOT use Internet Explorer 11) go to and click on the SAFE link. Step 2: If you have a SAFE Account log in. If you do not, then you will need to sign up. Step 3: Click on ODE.CORE to renew your license.

2 Step 4: Click on My Educator Profile. Step 5: Review your information. Update phone numbers, and so on if needed. Step 6: Select My Credentials from the My Educator Profile drop down menu.

3 Step 7: You will see a list of every credential you have ever obtained. Choose the credential you want to renew by clicking on Renew in the Select Action drop down menu. Step 8: A yellow box will appear as shown below. The effective year of your new credential will appear next to the Renew drop down. Click the add Renew Request button. A processing message will appear.

4 Step 9: Once processed, a confirmation page will appear. See below. You will need to select School district as the Mail to Address and click the magnifying glass to select Tri-Rivers Career Center. A new window will open. You will need to enter the Tri-Rivers Career Center IRN. It is Then click on Tri-Rivers Career Center.

5 Step 10: Your screen should look like the picture below with the TRCC address. Then click Save Application and Next.

6 Step 11: You must answer all the questions below. In the signatures box, you will need to click the magnifying glass and enter the Tri-Rivers LPDC IRN, which is When you answer the legal questions, if you answer yes to any of the questions, you must submit an explanation even if you have done so in the past. *You can check the date of your last background check by clicking on Background Checks.

7 Step 12: Scroll down and complete the experience section. See example below. Enter your approximate hire date and to present in the date areas. You can use our school IRN when entering the district name. The address, city, county and state info will be filled in automatically. Enter your position and subject along with grade level(s). You must click the check mark to submit your information. Be sure to check the Applicant Signature box. When all information is entered, click Save Application and Next. *If you have multiple licenses to renew (ex. elementary, adolescent to young adult, counselor, principal) you will need to click Return to My Applications. You will repeat steps 7 thru 12 for each license type.

8 Step 13: Most of you will simply click Save Application and Done. Because TRCC employees are members of our LPDC, you do not need to submit transcripts. If you answered yes to a legal question, you would upload your explanation document here.

9 Step 14: Click on the Select and Pay box. Next click on Pay $ for your selected Applications *If you are renewing one license type your total will be $200, if you have multiple licenses, you pay $200 for the first and $20 for each additional type. So a person with an adolescent to young adult license, a counselor license and a principal license will pay $240.

10 Step 15: Your account will appear. If you have a balance in your account it will appear here. Double check the Credential Request box to be certain the information is correct. If it is, click the Next button. If not, follow the instuctions in the Credential Request box.

11 PAYMENT: You will need to follow the on screen prompts to pay for your renewal. You will enter billing information and credit card information. Acceptable credit cards are Visa and MasterCard only. Use of a debit card which requires a PIN is not supported. Once your payment is processed, print your receipt for your records. You can click "Go to My Application" and see that your renewal is in process. The screen will look like the picture below. Once your application is submitted online, the LPDC will be alerted to sign off on your application and then it will be processed. *Remember you must have a FBI background check on file with ODE that is less than one year old to get your license. If you have not lived in Ohio for last 5 years, you need both a BCI and FBI check. You can get a background check done at the NCOESE or a law enforcement office. The ESC on Center St. is open until 3:30 on school days. Last but not least, sign out!
