The Belgacom Forum 500 has been specially designed to suit the structure of SMEs. You can customize it and make provisions for any future extensions. optimal availability for all your staff Because every missed call is a missed opportunity, the Forum 500 is equipped with call transfer and diversion functions and an individual voice mailbox for each telephone (Forum Voice). The DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephony) exchange means that you can also equip your system with cordless telephones. All your staff can be reached immediately, and you won t lose time searching the building. Finally, thanks to its Automated Attendant, you can guide the customer to the right person in your company via an interactive menu. 1 Forum 500

a wide choice of telephones with multiple functions The Forum 500 system enables you to connect a wide range of fixed and cordless telephones. They all share optimal ergonomics and are very easy to use. Each has its own features, suitable for many different uses. It s up to you to choose what your staff needs. (see also pages 5 to 8) notification of your e-mails by mobile or fixed telephone You no longer need your PC to check whether you have new messages in your electronic mail box. In future, the Forum 500 e-mail notification system will keep you directly informed. You re notified via your telephone screen - whether fixed or cordless - when e-mails arrive (with the sender, time and subject displayed). It s up to you to decide whether to read them straightaway or later. You can also set the frequency with which you want to receive these notifications: once a day, every five minutes or whenever a new e-mail arrives. remote configuration and updating of your exchange The Forum 500 can be configured remotely via the Internet or intranet. You can easily access your exchange using a standard browser and the IP address. You can amend the configuration of your Forum 500 in the same way. Our technical help desk can also load the most recent software straight onto your exchange, so you can always take advantage of the newest features. Many new features and applications are regularly added to enhance this communication system. The Forum 500 offers advanced call management with indispensable applications such as voicemail, DECT cordless telephony and the TeleSecretary function. In IP configuration, the exchange can be equipped with IP telephones and connected to Belgacom s data network (Explore or I-Office). A single network is now sufficient for voice and data transport. It also offers specific applications for the hotel sector (Forum Hotel), nursing homes and industries. Forum 500 2

specific applications personal voicemail Voicemail is an indispensable tool for good call management within a company. With Forum Voice, every Forum 500 user has access to a personal voicemail box. Incoming voice messages are notified on the display of desk phones, cordless phones or with an e-mail. Forum Voice also has many additional functions, such as the transfer of messages to other users (with or without an operator s comment), remote access, a choice of seven greetings and four closing messages, a large programming menu and an option to listen to messages on a PC or receive them in an e-mail attachment. automated Attendant The Automated Attendant welcomes callers with an interactive menu that guides them through the various options or departments. Messages and music can easily be recorded via a telephone handset or downloaded via a PC. package for hotels Forum Hotel is the flexible solution for small and medium-sized hotels. In addition to checking customers in and out via the telephone or PC at the reception desk, the system displays on the hotel manager s PC the status of each room and the cost of calls made by customers. The manager can clearly see if a room is occupied, free, or has to be cleaned, and can also inspect the communications costs incurred by the customers. Finally, Forum Hotel can also serve as an automatic wake-up service. applications for all sectors 3 Forum 500 In addition to the standard tools offered by the Forum 500, you can also integrate your own company applications into the telephone exchange. This integration is carried out under the Telephony Application Programming Interface (TAPI) protocol or the Computer Supported Telecommunications Applications (CSTA) protocol. Examples can be found in all sectors. Nursing homes: you receive a call directly on a DECT cordless telephone when an intervention in a room is requested. The manager can view calls based on various criteria: length of calls, cost, external calls, internal calls, identification code, user, service or company called, etc. Forum Count can be consulted on a PC and can register up to 6,000 different elements, which can be exported to programs such as Excel or Access to facilitate processing. hotdesking This function allows several users to use the same telephone, each with their own personal configuration. The user enters his password, and the telephone automatically displays his personal telephone environment. Forum Phones are equipped with a large graphic screen with between two and eleven lines. This makes it possible to display information about the call, program menus and function keys very clearly. Forum Phones 515, 525 and 535 have an adjustable height. The Forum Phone 535, moreover, has a backlight display for even greater ease of reading. technically complete Belgacom has done its utmost to make your exchange easy to use. Pre-programmed keys offer you the standard functions: consultation, putting calls on hold, automatic redialing, deleting, hands-free, etc. You can also program several keys yourself. Forum Phone/ IPhone 525 Forum Phone/ IPhone 535 Forum Keypad 535 Display expansion options For additional keys and options, you can attach a Forum 500 Keypad Display (with screen for the Forum Phone 535) or Paper (with paper label for the Forum Phone 525 and 535). This gives you 60 extra keys. The Forum 500 Keypad Display has a backlight for additional comfort. IP telephones The 525 and 535 IPhones are derived from the Forum Phone 525 and 535 and provide users with precisely the same functions. As IP telephones, they are connected directly to the LAN, giving the company the advantages of Voice Over IP: integration of the voice and data network, simplified maintenance, and user-friendliness. virtual telephone The softphone of the Forum 500 is a virtual version of the Forum Phone. It dispenses with the need for a telephone. Instead, from your PC, which displays an image of the Forum Phone, you have the full range of Forum 500 telephone functions. A special feature of the virtual telephone is that it even allows you to record calls by a simply clicking the mouse. increased mobility The IPhones enable you to increase the efficiency and mobility of your home workers or teleworkers. The IPhones are simply connected to your LAN, or Local Area Network, via an ADSL connection, for example. This provides the teleworker with the same phone configuration as at work. He or she calls and is called on his or her number in the company. This means it is no longer necessary to provide a separate telephone line and program call forwarding. cordless telephones Forum Free 566, 576 and 586 always available Cordless telephony is a logical extension of the Forum 500 exchange. It is made possible by DECT technology (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telephony). The base stations provide complete coverage of your site. Equipped with a Forum Free phone, your staff can be reached at all times, internally and externally. The DECT base stations used by the Forum 500 can connect 255 cordless telephones and carry four to eight simultaneous conversations per base station. There is also an IP version of the base station. Therefore you can install such an IP base station anywhere you have an IP connection, for instance in your storage area or home office, and make cordless phone calls via your Local Area Network. There are two versions of the IP base station: telephony only, or telephony and data. In the latter case, therefore, you have a wireless data network (WLAN of Wireless LAN) and, for example, you can connect your laptop computer via a wireless connection to your data network. practical Thanks to their light weight and ergonomic design, Forum Free telephones are very user friendly. They can be attached to a belt with a clip. They can also be connected to a headset and support the hands-free function and the Bluetooth signal. The Forum Free 586 is specially adapted to industrial environments and complies with the IP65 protection standard. It has programmable keys and an emergency key which can be used in case the user is sick, for example (the telephone can automatically make an emergency call thanks to the Man down function). 7 Forum 500

From their cordless telephone, they can access the central telephone directory and its two thousand names and six thousand numbers of customers and suppliers. They can easily handle simultaneous calls, with the first conversation being automatically put on hold. They can also use all the other Forum 500 exchange functions, such as e-mail notification, sending text messages, access to numbers via names, etc. optimal readability Forum Free telephones have a large graphic screen with eight text lines, so it is easy to read the data. Thanks to the dynamic function menu, the user can see all the available functions at a glance. The backlit display also offers optimal readability even under difficult circumstances (e.g. at night or in poorly lit places). It can now also be connected to Belgacom s IP networks, such as I-Office and Explore, and not just to ISDN networks. The xdsl connection is used for voice and data transport. This is a perfect example of infrastructure rationalization. telephoning over the LAN on your fixed or cordless phone Thanks to the free DHCP server, the DNS server, DSL router, ISDN router and the Firewall, your Forum 500 can become the core of your LAN.
