This is particularly true when it comes to communication, which is playing an increasingly significant role in all business processes. Whether it s a matter of fast Internet connections, clever terminals, mobile workstation solutions or efficient applications, one thing is certain the OpenCom 100 series meets all the communications needs of today and tomorrow. And they will simply grow as your company s communications requirements increase. STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY Aastra s OpenCom 100 communication systems are synonymous with convergent communications in which telephony, the Internet, messaging services and user applications all utilise the same platform. Their innovative, open system architecture makes it easy to integrate individual solutions, while also being perfectly prepared for the next shift in technology. The systems can be set up and maintained using a Web browser on any computer, regardless of its operating system. A SYSTEM THAT ALWAYS FITS THE BILL The OpenCom 100 series has another decisive advantage: its basic configuration represents a particularly cost-efficient entry into the world of convergent communications. It also provides flexible upgrade options for future growth and applications requirements.
3 3 voice THE TELEPHONE SYSTEM A FAMILY OF SYSTEMS The OpenCom family is based on a common technology platform, all sharing the same handsets, accessories and software applications. Each system is able to expand in accordance with a business s needs. OPENCOM AND ISDN 1 ISDN is a reliable platform for carrying digital voice and data. Existing analogue lines can usually be upgraded to ISDN, while retaining existing phone numbers. With ISDN, every extension can be given a unique phone number, lessening the need for a receptionist and reducing the cost of dedicated modem and fax lines. ISDN supports caller ID and all incoming calls can be identified from OpenCom handsets (including name display if the number is stored in the OpenCom phone directory) before calls are answered. With higher data speed than standard lines, ISDN is also attractive for applications like videoconferencing, which can be connected directly through OpenCom s ISDN extensions. CONNECT OTHER EQUIPMENT Supports the connection of analogue equipment (fax machine, phone or answering machine), a door phone, external music on-hold as well as other ISDN devices such as video-conferencing equipment and ISDN phones. SIMPLE, INTUITIVE OPERATION Using OpenCom telephones is easy, with all system handsets incorporating context-sensitive LCD screens. This means that the system will display menus and options based on what you are doing at the time. DESK PHONES THAT SUIT YOUR NEEDS From the executive suite to the storeroom, OpenCom s desk phone range ensures there is a phone suitable for every user. There are a wide range of deskphone options available for OpenCom handsets ranging from operator consoles, to adapters that support the connection of a headset or another system phone. 1. 4 4 mobility W I R E L ESS E XT E N S I O N S O N S I T E OPENCOM IN A WIRELESS WORLD Wireless voice is a key option available for the OpenCom 100 series, reflecting the increasing importance businesses are placing on improved productivity, customer service and cost control. Providing users with the flexibility to make or take calls from anywhere around their workplace can provide measurable improvements in these areas. A RETURN ON INVESTMENT Not only can OpenCom deliver wireless functionality more affordably than a standalone telephone system with a wireless system added on, but the integrated DECT option also enables systems to be expanded very cost effectively by just adding extra cordless handsets and base stations as required. Substantial reductions are also achieved in cabling costs, the costs of users moving desks or offices and the onsite usage of mobile phones. OPENCOM AND DECT DECT (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) is an international standard adopted in over 100 countries and is the leading technology for wireless telephone systems. It operates using a network of low power radio base stations, which provide seamless radio coverage over a site. The technology is digital, making it far less prone to interference than traditional cordless phones and is fully encrypted, ensuring it is secure from eavesdropping. Utilising its own frequency band means that DECT does not share the radio spectrum in an open band, unlike other wireless solutions. WIRELESS HANDSETS THAT SUIT YOUR NEEDS Whether just basic voice communications or a more sophisticated solution is required, your needs are covered with OpenCom s wireless handset offering. Large LCD screens enable users to enjoy user-friendly, menu-driven access to all system functions, including voic access, notification of receipt of new s and internal SMS messaging. Wireless phone users need not lose any of the functionality they are accustomed to with a desk phone as the Optional OpenCTI 50 virtual phone software delivers desk phone functionality (eg. quick redial) from their PC. RADIO COVERAGE OpenCom offers radio base stations supporting up to 8 simultaneous conversions with options for both indoor and outdoor environments. Large size sites are easily covered via a network of bases with seamless handover of calls as they move between bases.
5 5 data THE LAN CONNECTION EASY PROGRAMMING VIA WEB BROWSER As the OpenCom is connected to the LAN as another network device with its own IP address, administering the system, for example, changing the settings on a system handset, can be simply done via a web browser on any PC connected to the LAN. Access to various programming levels is password protected, preventing unauthorised access. REMOTE ACCESS SERVER (RAS 2 ) Configuring the OpenCom as a RAS allows workers to access the system and the LAN from remote locations (eg. home users) via an ISDN service. Access is password protected by individual user, preventing unauthorised entry. Remote system programming or fault diagnostics can also be undertaken using this function, making a quick response to system problems possible, even for remote sites. CTI INTERFACE (COMPUTER TELEPHONY INTEGRATION) The TAPI interface supplied with the OpenCom allows users of Microsoft Outlook and ACT (or similar TAPIcompatible contact management programs 3 ) to dial directly from the contact. Incoming call screen pops from ACT or other compatible CRM software is also supported. INTERNET ROUTER WITH FIREWALL 2 OpenCom includes an Internet router (ADSL/xDSL or ISDN), enabling LAN users to securely and cost effectively share a single high speed Internet connection. The integrated firewall, combined with individual password access ensures that access to the LAN via the OpenCom is as secure as possible. 2. Requires optional IP licence to be activated. 3. 6 6 open applications ADDING VALUE WITH TAILORED SOLUTIONS VOIC OPENVOICE 200 With the OpenVoice 200, up to 64 users can have access to individual voice mailboxes. Incoming voice messages can be indicated and retrieved on the displays of corded and wireless system telephones. Key features include: forwarding voic s to other users, remote access to mailboxes, setting up of multiple greetings, providing notification of messages to another destination such as a mobile phone, playing back voic messages via your PC and user adjustable voic box sizes. VIRTUAL PHONE OPENCTI 50 4 The OpenCTI 50 virtual phone application enables users to manage key functions of their phone and monitor the phone system via their PC. The busy lamp field (BLF) screen is great for telephone operators who can see the status of all extensions at a glance. This is also particularly useful for wireless phone users, as the virtual phone delivers the desk phone functionality they are used to onto their PC. This application operates independently of the operating system, allowing it to work comfortably with Windows, MAC OS or Linux. AUTO ATTENDANT OPENATTENDANT OpenAttendant 205 can be used to replace or supplement a full time telephone operator by automatically answering incoming calls with a programmable voice announcement and directing callers to the correct extension or department via interactive prompts. It can also be used for information and announcement services. Menu scripts can be recorded and controlled by users, ensuring the system is truly flexible. The module contains announcement-text and music-on-hold functions plus integrated conversion software for uploading menus.
7 7 The OpenCom family supports a wide choice of optional applications, enabling a user to cost-effectively tailor a system to suit their specific needs. As most of these are activated via software licence, they can be easily added to a system at any time. CALL ACCOUNTING OPENCOUNT (AVAIL MID 2005) The OpenCount 100 call data recording and evaluation system enables the central recording of call data as well as charges incurred and provides a clear, detailed summary of call activity. It can be managed via a Web browser installed on any computer in the company network. OpenCount 100 data can be transferred to other programs for further editing with the integrated export function. HOSPITALITY PACKAGE OPENHOTEL (AVAIL MID 2005) OpenHotel 100 is the flexible solution for small hotels and motels. Not only does OpenHotel make it possible to perform check-ins and check-outs from the receptionist s phone, it also provides an overview of the room status and the communication costs incurred by the guests. It is also possible to set up both individual voice boxes for each room and a convenient automatic wake-up service. MULTI-COMPANY OPENCOMPANY 45 The OpenCompany 45 is a great addition for an OpenCom 100 system being shared by a group of companies in a shared office environment. It enables users to separate communication lines and expenses of up to five different user groups. This separation includes outside lines, call distribution, the central phonebook, call charge registration and lines to be utilised. 4. These applications are supplied pre-installed on the OpenCom system with a free 60-day trial licence.
8 8 OpenCom DESIGNED TO MEET YOUR NEEDS While OpenCom systems are designed for the more discerning customer with unique needs, potential users will nevertheless share some, or all, of the following requirements. A system which offers the latest in technology, such as personalised phone numbers for each user, caller-id and integrated voic . Multiple wireless phones for a larger work / living area with users on the move. An onsite LAN or multiple computers/devices connected via a hub. A large contact database (eg. Outlook or ACT) used to regularly phone these contacts. A desire to portray a particular image to customers, peers and friends.
