CSU ADMISSIONS APPLICATION TIPS Apply at: www.csumentor.edu BEFORE WORKING ON THE APPLICATION Confirm your intended CSU campus is considering applications from transfer students for your intended major. Visit the CSU Application Filing Status webpage (www.csumentor.edu/filing_status) and follow these steps: 1. Select your level. (e.g. Undergraduate or International) 2. Select the term for which you are applying. (e.g. Fall 2015) 3. If the CSU campus you are interested in says CLOSED, that means they are no longer accepting applications for the term you'd like to apply. 4. If the CSU campus you are interested in says OPEN, click on VIEW to see OPEN MAJORS and the CAMPUS NOTICE FOR TRANSFERS. Verify that your campus is accepting applications for your major and read the notice for transfer students. The notice may indicate the deadline for submitting the CSUMentor application. Check if you already have a CSUMentor account. (www.csumentor.edu) If you applied to Ohlone College using the online application at www.cccapply.org, you already have a CSUMentor account because the same company (XAP) provides the online application service for the California Community Colleges and California State University systems. To retrieve your CSUMentor account: 1. Visit www.cccapply.org 2. Choose LOG ON/CREATE ACCOUNT 3. Select the button I FORGOT MY USERNAME OR PASSWORD to retrieve your username and establish a new password. Once you have your username and password, you can use it to log on to CSUMentor and work on your CSU application at www.csumentor.edu. Consider establishing a separate working email address. Universities will often communicate ONLY through email about the status of your application and any documents needed to move your application forward for further consideration. Make sure to check the email SPAM folder. Access your college transcripts. You will be asked to enter ALL colleges attended, including dates of attendance, and where needed, course(s) taken and grades earned. Determine whether you will log into your college s student account or request transcripts to access your academic records. Gather financial information. Your family s financial information (2014 income and 2015 estimated income) is required if you would like to obtain an application fee waiver for the CSU application or apply for the EOP program. You will also be asked about your family size. Determine residency status. You need to know how long you have been in California since the CSU system calculates your tuition based on your residency status. Undocumented students can visit the Transfer Center for assistance on this portion of the application, and look into the AB540 Affidavit.

Calculate your CSU-transferable g.p.a.. The CSU-transferable G.P.A. being asked for on the CSU application is not always the one listed in your WebAdvisor account. Wondering which courses to use in your calculation? Visit assist.org and select Transferable Courses located under Help Topics.
