Recruiting today requires the ability to adapt to new recruiting and social media technologies to find and connect with the best candidates for openings. LinkedIn is a crowded space for recruiters and job seekers, although it is evolving with more intuitive tools like candidates/jobs you might like. The sheer size of social media makes it challenging to search manually. Employers and recruiters who need to put together a qualified workgroup or workforce quickly just can t do it the old school way with a phone, rolodex, and a few job ads. The need to quickly and accurately identify candidates with the types of technical, niche, communication, and leadership skills has prompted the evolution of recruiting software such as social aggregation tools, resume spiders and applicant tracking systems. SOCIAL AGGREGATION TOOLS Social aggregation tools are recruiting software that help enable recruiters and hiring managers to go beyond Boolean search to quickly and easily find the right candidates from among millions with the exact skills and experience required. Products such as SwoopTalent, HiringSolved, Gild, and Talent Bin search through social media profiles to make matches based on job titles, education, and skills, plus contact information and other useful data on candidates. Social aggregation tools solve sourcing problems by transforming search into a simple process with a wide reach to find qualified candidates that aren t identified with Google or LinkedIn searches. Users enter their search criteria and aggregators return matching candidates with aggregated profiles from across the web and social media. Instead of searching Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Gitup, StackOverflow and other areas of the web individually to read all of a candidate s online presences, the aggregators do all the searching and return all of the candidate information in one package. SwoopTalent SwoopTalent is an affordable social aggregator with a wide reach for all types of candidates. It searches the web for social media profiles and collects them into comprehensive profiles so you see the whole picture with just one search. You can search their data base of a hundred million records by skill, keyword, and job title. Swoop also has ATS integration so you can automate your candidate searches. APPLICANT TRACKING SYSTEMS Applicant tracking systems are software applications or recruiting software to automate recruiting functions such as online application processing, resume tracking and sorting, data searching, and contact management. There are many different ATS products available, but three of the top systems are Taleo, Jobvite, and icims. Taleo Taleo is a large software-as-a-service product for talent acquisition, compensation and performance management, and learning and development. Companies use its recruiting software to process their online applications, HRIS processes, and other modular units to manage talent acquisition. Oracle Corporation bought Taleo in 2012 for $1.9 billion. Almost half of the top career sites worldwide are powered by Taleo and Taleo s average customer return on investment is almost $5 milllion. Many companies, and especially large national or global corporations, use applicant tracking systems like Taleo to streamline their recruiting processes. These let them store applications and resumes into databases searchable by keywords and sort them by position and/or skills, as well as other useful features. It s turned paper applications and resumes into virtual candidate data that s more easily accessible during the recruiting and hiring process. Oracle recently acquired Taleo for almost $2 billion, so there is a lot of value in their product, at least for employers and recruiters. Taleo has a feature called Talent Intelligence with embedded analytics, automatic information-gathering throughout the entire recruiting process, and many valuable ways to manipulate and extract recruiting data. Jobvite Jobite was introduced in 2003 as a social media job announcement and employee referral system. It has grown into a top-notch ATS, recruiter CRM, and social media recruiting system. It s a softwareas-a-service platform with a modular format. Jobite s modules include Jobvite Refer for social media referral processing, Jobvite Engage for social media sourcing management, and Jobvite Hire which is a total hiring solution that allows users to manage recruiting from requisition through hire with a single point of entry. Jobvite s focus on social recruiting helps employers and recruiters quickly and easily integrate social media into their recruiting processes and eliminate redundancies and time-consuming recruiting tasks and activities. Candidates can easily apply to recruiter s jobs right through their LinkedIn and other social media profiles, without leaving icims, making it an easy and valuable tool. There are no paper applications for recruiters to collect and manage because the software captures them online and allows searches on applications, job profiles, and resumes. Recruit helps recruiters and employers build their employment brand and improve their candidates experience with an automated and customizable communications component.
