Failsafe WAN, VoIP, IVRS & LAN connectivity Client : Asia 's biggest integrated Jewellery manufacturer Customer's requirement: The customer wanted to establish WAN and VoIP connectivity between their offices located at Mumbai and Bhat. The customer also required LAN connectivity in Bhat office with reference to an upcoming 50 seat Call centre. The IP based network was meant for Voice and data application. 2 Mbps bandwidth was required for the WAN connectivity. The customer also preferred the WAN connectivity to be always-on with auto ISDN backup connectivity, in case the primary leased line link failed. The customer required SNMP management option in these devices. The customer preferred the connectivity to be always-on. Summary of Dax solution: Dax recommended an IP based interconnectivity solution, which could be used for Voice and data application. At both the Mumbai and Bhat offices, Dax recommended the customer to opt for Modular Access router with multi WAN Slots to provide leased line as well as auto ISDN back-up connectivity to Mumbai office. For VoIP connectivity, Dax recommended 1 no of 2-port FXS Gate way in the Mumbai office and 1 no of 2-port FXS Gate way in Bhat office, thereby ensuring 2 concurrent voice channels. At the Mumbai office and the Bhat offices, the routers and VoIP devices were recommended vide the existing LAN switch. For the call center connectivity at the Bhat office to connect 50 nodes, Dax recommended 3 nos of 24-port 10/100Mbps layer 2 managed switches with Enhanced Cat-5 cabling solutions. To enable the outbound voice calls, Dax recommended server based ISDN PRI cum R2 multi-purpose RAS solution.

Typical connectivity setup in a Call Centre Details of Dax solution: Mumbai and Bhat offices: Dax recommended the customer to opt for Dax Maipu DXMP-1700 Modular access router, which has 4 WAN slots. The first slot of the router was recommended to be loaded with 1 # one port sync/async module to provide connectivity to another location. Second slot was recommended to be loaded with 1 # one port ISDN module to provide auto ISDN back-up connectivity, if the primary link fails. For VoIP connectivity, Dax recommended 1 no of 2-port FXS Gate way in the Mumbai office and 1 2-port FXS Gate way in Bhat office, thereby ensuring 2 concurrent voice channels. At the Mumbai office and the Bhat offices, the router and VoIP devices were recommended to be connected vide existing LAN switch.

For the call center connectivity at Bhat office, Dax recommended structured cabling network with 3 nos of Dax Megastack switches. Dax Megastack is an enhanced Layer 2 24-port SNMP manageable, stackable switch with 2 uplink modules supporting a variety of uplink options. To enable the outbound calls, Dax recommended Dax Eicon Diva PRI 30M multi-purpose IVRS RAS that allows as many as 30 concurrent voice calls, analog as well as ISDN. This powerful IVRS solution was recommended to be integrated in the IVR server as needed. The required Call centre software may be developed in line with 30M features and highlights. For an easy facilitation of this software integration, the SDK (Software Development Tool Kit) provided along with Dax Eicon DIVA Server PRI-30M comes in handy. The 30M RAS connects to ISDN PRI as well as E1/R2 lines and needs a pair of 2 Mbps G.703 interface Leased Line modems for termination. Highlights of WAN connectivity: Redundancy: The connectivity from the Central location to the Remote location is through a leased line link with an auto ISDN backup. If the leased line fails, the back up would automatically initiate the connection and maintain the uptime. When the leased line is restored, the ISDN back-up connection will disconnect automatically. Support for Industry Standard Routing Protocols: Dax Maipu routers support Industry standard LAN/WAN Protocols such as Default Gateway, Static Route, RIP V1/V2, OSPF, BGP, DDR, IGRP etc, thereby ensuring interoperability with other vendor products. Management option: Dax Maipu routers support SNMP. Hence, the customer can manage all these devices from any industry standard NMS software. Interoperability: Dax Maipu routers support standard compatibility for flawless interoperability. Its modular design supports various interfaces that guarantee easy upgradeability and scalability. It's feature-rich routing make the DAX Maipu routers versatile, effective platform for any routing connectivity. Dax Maipu routers support a robust Command Line Interface that complies with the defacto industry standard, saving potential huge training costs. Operating system Platform Independency: Dax Maipu routers are operating system independent and PC / Server independent. Router function is based on IP protocol. Thus, when the Customer changes their operating system platform, all WAN connectivity devices would function normally with out the need for change in the configuration. In-built Security Mechanisms: Dax Maipu routers allow end-to-end secured encryption, with VPN module option too available (Product code: DX-IPSEC-SW). The routers support industry standard security protocols such as L2TP and GRE tunneling by default, thereby not having to invest additionally for such security features.

Comprehensive Support for Managing the Network: With the availability of Master Plan software in Dax Maipu routers, the entire network can be managed. This software also provides integration with most popular/widely used management software likes HP Open View, Cisco Works etc. Robust Design: Dax Maipu routers adopt the standard 19' anti-electromagnetic-radiation chassis, which can be placed on a standard rack. Due to its resistance to high/low temperature, anti-electromagnetic radiation and shockproof properties, Dax Maipu routers function with improved stability and reliability. Support for Mesh Connectivity in DXMP-1700 Router: DXMP-1700 Modular access routers with multi-wan slots at the branches have free slots. For establishing Mesh connectivity or another WAN connectivity, the free slots in the router can be used by just loading the appropriate modules without changing the existing setup, which is not possible in the router with 1 or 2 WAN slots. Support for Bandwidth Optimization: Dax Maipu Routers support WAN optimization features such as dial-on-demand routing (DDR), bandwidth-on-demand (BOD), compression, filtering and spoofing to reduce WAN costs. Thus, the router can optimize the available bandwidth. Highlights of LAN connectivity: Zero configurations required for setting up the switch: All ports in the switch support auto detection of 10 Mbps or 100 Mbps speed depending on the configuration. In addition, the ports support Auto MDI/MDIX, with which the switch can automatically recognize if the port is connected to a network node or cascaded to a switch and connect accordingly. Effective network traffic regulation: By implementing VLAN in Dax Megastack Switches, the broadcast traffic is restricted to specified workgroup. As a result, the broadcast traffic of a single segment does not reach another segment. This reduces the collision between domains and the network traffic gets regulated. Dax Megastack supports up to 128 VLAN groups. Comprehensive Cluster management: With support for Cluster management, up to 8 switches in a stack (or cascaded) is viewed as a single IP entity, enabling VLAN grouping and redundant links configuration between the switches from any web browser. In-built Routing Function in the Dax Mega Stack Switches: Software routing component is integrated in DAX Megastack as a standard offering. With this, the user has the choice of segmenting the network based on IP address as well, which is not otherwise possible in a plain Layer 2 switch. Supported IP routing protocols include RIP1, RIP2 as well as Static Routing. Support for Management: Dax Megastack provides SNMP Management features with default MIB2, Bridge MIB, Ethernet MIB and RMON MIB, allowing management from any industry Standard NMS software. Dax Megastack also supports web browser based configuration. Operating System Independency: Dax switches are operating system independent and PC / Server independent. Thus, when the user changes their operating system platform, all LAN connectivity devices can function normally without the need for change in the configuration. Versatile Uplink options: Dax Megastack switches have 2 open slots for a combination of 100fx or Gigabit uplink modules. The user can choose 2 100fx uplink ports or 2 # Gigabit uplink ports over either copper or Fiber. The user also has the choice of installing 1# 100FX uplink port, 1 Gigabit Uplink port. Thus, when the user want to upgrade the connectivity speed, can use the same switch by loading appropriate stack modules and is not bounded by fixed configuration uplink modules.

Scalability: Megastack is easily scalable to include additional nodes by simply cascading /stacking another switch to it. Thus, in future network expansion is hassle free without any change in the existing set up. Highlights of VoIP solution: Reduce Voice communication charges to zero: Dax VoIP solution reduces the traditional (STD) voice call charges across the above said IP network. Since it uses the existing IP network, STD lines can be avoided and thus communication charges can also be brought to zero. Hotline facility: Dax VoIP Gateways supports Hotline configuration, by which any 2 # locations can be configured with Hotline VoIP connection similar to regular telephone Hotline. The user need not dial the remote number. A permanent connection similar to Hotline can be configured in the IP network. Supports G.711 A/u-Law, G.723.1 voice coders: Conformance to ITU standards for conversion of analog voice lines into digital ones and sampling ensures quality of speech close to conventional phone call. T.38 fax detection Support: Dax VoIP Gateways support Fax over IP with G.729, which consumes less bandwidth. With this support, the fax transfer will also be done through the existing IP network. Support for Web Based Management: Web management allows configuration of Dax VoIP devices in the network from any web browser, thereby facilitating easy network administration. Highlights of Dax Eicon Diva Server PRI-30M RAS / IVRS: PCI-X compatible universal RAS solution Dax Eicon Diva Server PRI 30M RAS accommodate the latest generation of servers being produced with the new 3.3v signaling bus. These PCI-X slots are 64bit slots. Dax Eicon Diva PRI 30M RAS readily fits into these PCI X Slots and can operate at 64 bit high speeds.
