1 Dial-on Demand VPN connectivity Client: A leading manufacturing organization engaged in producing cleaning equipments. Customer's requirement: The customer wanted to establish WAN connectivity between central location located at Coimbatore and 4 remote locations, namely Chennai, Bangalore, Cochin, and Kolkata. The connectivity solution would be primarily used for CRM updation. The customer preferred Dial-up connectivity between the central and the remote locations. The required connectivity needed to be from remote locations to central location. The customer wanted VPN connectivity through Internet. There was wireless broadband connectivity available in the central location. The customer was also looking for VoIP option in the solution. Summary of Dax solution: Dax recommended dial-up based connectivity solution for the customer, which would be used for CRM updation. At the central location, Dax recommended dial-up based secured connectivity, i.e. dedicated hardware VPN connectivity. This robust VPN gate way solution supports as many as 10 concurrent tunnels. External modems were suggested in each of the remote locations. For VoIP connectivity, Dax recommended 1 no of 4-port FXS Gate way in the central location. At each of the remote locations, Dax recommend ed 1 no of 1-port FXS Gate way.

The connectivity solution would be primarily used for CRM updation. The customer preferred Dial-up connectivity between the central and the remote locations.

3 Details of Dax solution Option 1 (without VoIP solution): Central Location: At the central location, Dax recommended the customer to opt for Dax Eicon Shiva 2105 VPN gate way dial-up based secured connectivity, i.e. dedicated hardware VPN connectivity, which will have interface to the existing RF connectivity vide ethernet backbone. Dax Eicon Shiva VPN gate way supports as many as 10 concurrent tunnels and is a complete end to-end firewall and VPN solution. The provision for allowing 10 clients is provided in the 10 tunnel solution. Thus, the VPN Gate way is the centre of a security solution that includes an unlimited license on the VPN Client side and the powerful VPN Security Manager. Option 2 (with VoIP solution enabled): While the secured WAN connectivity remains the same, Dax recommended the use of Broadband Modems at each of the remote offices to realize higher QoS w.r.t VoIP application. As regards the VoIP application, Dax recommended 1 # of Dax DX-3504A 4 port FXS gate way at the central location, thus supporting 4 concurrent voice tunnels within the IP wan cloud.

4 At each of the remote locations, Dax recommended 1 # of Dax DX-3501A 1 port FXS gate way, which allows the user to realize VoIP connectivity over the existing wan network. The PC at the remote office installed with the VPN client software would be connected to the Broadband modem. This in turn gets connected to DX-3501A FXS gateway. Highlights of the solution: VPN Scalability : The proposed gateway supports 10 concurrent tunnels, so provide scalability for connecting more locations in the network. Flexibility : It supports tremendous flexibility by supporting a wide range routing protocols, like RIP v1/2, OSPF, GRE, Multicast through VPN etc. Security : It supports complete Security like Secure ID, PKI, and RADIUS for authentication. Any of these may be implemented as per the requirement. Low cost of ownership: An unlimited VPN client license is included in all the Shiva VPN Gateways, so there's no extra cost for remote user license. Highlights of the VoIP solution: Reduce Voice communication charges to zero: Dax VoIP solution reduces the traditional (STD) or local voice call charges across the IP network. Since it uses the existing IP network, STD/local lines can be avoided and thus communication charges can also be brought to zero. Hotline facility: Dax VoIP Gateways supports Hotline configuration, by which any 2 # locations can be configured with Hotline VoIP connection similar to regular telephone Hotline. The user need not dial the remote number. A permanent connection similar to Hotline can be configured in the IP network. Supports G.711 A/u-Law, G voice coders: Conformance to ITU standards for conversion of analog voice lines into digital ones and sampling ensures quality of speech close to conventional phone call. T.38 fax detection Support: Dax VoIP Gateways support Fax over IP with G.729, which consumes less bandwidth. With this support, the fax transfer will also be done through the existing IP network. Support for Web Based Management: Web management allows configuration of Dax VoIP devices in the network from any web
