AX.S Series Access Control and I.AM Series Identity Access Management
We selected the Kaba Embedded Access Control System for its features and functions, but what we like the most is how rock solid the devices are. - Lance Rankin, Virtual Police *, Roanoke, TX Delivering Embedded Access Control Solutions Kaba s Embedded Access Control products provide a new way for you to practice access control management. Our products offer distinct advantages over traditional legacy systems, including embedded software, global fingerprint transmission, and solution management via the Internet. The AX.S Controllers and I.AM Series of Biometric Fingerprint Readers include embedded applications on the hardware so there is no need to install any software, computers or servers. The only time you need to update your software is when you want to download the latest features and version. Another key feature that distinguishes the Kaba system from others is the ability to transfer fingerprint templates anywhere in the network. This means you only have to register an employee once then push data out to the other readers. And, the Kaba system allows you to manage Kaba access control products over the Internet from any location in the world. *Virtual Police is an IP Video Solutions provider that specializes in access control and security cameras for industrial and commercial businesses. Create a Customized System with the AX.S Series The AX.S Series of products offers flexible and scalable access control solutions for virtually any application. With system configuration options, you choose which product best suits your number of users and audit events as well as hardware and credential requirements. Two core product groups, Access Manager 524 (AM524) or Access Manager 300 (AM300), serve as the foundation for creating your customized system. Both systems accommodate card, PIN or biometric credentials and support all standard access reader types, including: HID Proximity MIFARE HID iclass EM AWID Hitag Legic Smart Card With a universal plug-and-play design, AX.S hardware is Ethernet ready, simple to install, and easy to use right out of the box. The system supports REST and SOAP web services and allows you to access system administration, user setup, and event viewing via any standard web browser over an Ethernet network. To open the application, you simply type the IP address, log into the system, and the application menu displays. Within the database, you can easily assign access rights, view activity at doors, and run reports. When implemented with optional AXIAL Software, you enable more detailed and convenient control over multiple-site configurations without the need to access each IP address independently. Flexible and Scalable Solutions for Virtually any Application Healthcare: AR402 Fingerprint Key on a controlled substance cabinet manages dispensing of Schedule II and other drugs at hospital Government: Access Manager (AM300), Door Unit (AD500) and AR402 Fingerprint Key on interior doors authenticate users at government administration building Transportation: AR402 Fingerprint Key on parking lot gates and employee entrances ensure controlled access at freight line s shipping yard Manufacturing: Access Manager (AM300), Door Unit (AD500) and AR402 Fingerprint Key with internal iclass reader on perimeter and interior doors of food processing plant. 4 Embedded Access Control
Access Manager 300 with Door Unit Designed for small businesses or branches, the Access Manager 300 and Door Unit system delivers access control for up to eight readers and 1,000 users and offers selectable inputs/outputs. When implemented with optional OC8 extension modules, you can choose the specific access point to enter (up to 24), eliminating Fingerprint Keys or Wiegand readers at every access point. This configuration is ideal in retail, healthcare, and banking facilities where there is a need to open a particular display case, cabinet, drawer, safe or server cabinet. When IC8 extension modules are integrated, the system provides a notification on the access point s status (open vs closed). One Access Manager 300 reduces equipment requirements, installation time and costs, while increasing the protection of your valuable assets and data. With the Access Manager 300 and Door Unit, you can: Audit 10,000 events Export to a XML file format Manage multiple sites Interface with third-party alarm system Photo courtesy of Danny Bollinger Access Manager 524 with Door Unit Designed for facilities that have many access points and users, the Access Manager 524 and Door Unit system supports up to 24 readers and 30,000 users. However, up to four Access Manager 524s can communicate in a cluster configuration, providing expansion and administration for up to 96 readers. When implemented with optional OC8 extension modules, you can choose the specific access point to enter (up to 24), eliminating Fingerprint Keys or Weigand readers at every access point. This configuration is ideal in retail, healthcare, and banking facilities where there is a need to open a particular display case, cabinet, drawer, safe or server cabinet. Authenticated Access with the I.AM Fingerprint Key From embedded biometric software to an open platform, the compact, outdoor-rated AR402 Fingerprint Key offers reliable biometrics and an extensive feature set to meet a wide range of your needs. Sealed in a sturdy IP65-listed enclosure, the AR402 Fingerprint Key comes standard with an illuminated sensor and touch-sensor keypad for operation in virtually any indoor or outdoor environment. The optical sensor makes the template match at the reader and grants access in less than one second with multiple minutia point detection. Depending on which system you choose, the Fingerprint Key stores 500 or 3,000 users and can provide fingerprint template distribution between readers. The Fingerprint Key is available with an optional internal iclass card reader. The AR402 Fingerprint Key is scalable and flexible and implements easily into any new or existing structure. The Fingerprint Key works with Kaba s AX.S Series via RS485, as well as third-party access control systems capable of decoding HID formats via Wiegand. When integrated into an AX.S Series configuration, the AR402 supports fingerprint template distribution between readers, eliminating the need to enroll users at each reader (where applicable). System configuration options include: AR402 with Kaba Embedded Access Manager as the access control and biometric management system: The Access Manager allows fingerprint template distribution and controls access rights. AR402 with Kaba Embedded Access Manager as the biometric management system in conjunction with a third-party access control system: The Access Manager only controls fingerprint distribution; the third-party access control system manages the access rights. In this setup, the biometric reader passes the fingerprint up to the third-party system as a number just like reading a card. AR402 with a third-party access control system: The AR402 works with a third-party system as a simple standalone reader. The AR402 holds fingerprints locally at the reader; there is no fingerprint template distribution to other readers. With the optional iclass version of AR402, fingerprints can be written/read to iclass cards to allow many users in the system. AR402 with Kaba Standalone I.AM Kit for non-networked, single door use: The AR402 handles the data management and enrollment directly at the reader without any PC connection. Audio & Security Engineers on Kaba Biometric Readers We ve had experience with other fingerprint readers and honestly they were a disaster. Fingers would not read it was a nightmare. So, after doing some research on biometric readers, we found and tried Kaba s Fingerprint Readers. We installed them at some accounts the Fingerprint Readers do a great job reading the finger, and the database is easy to use and maintain. Another key feature of the Kaba Fingerprint Key is that you can transfer fingerprint templates anywhere in the network. What this means is the system administrator registers employees only once and then transfers the templates to other Fingerprint Key readers on the network. I can see a lot of colleges, universities, and professional teams using the Kaba system to administer access control.
