Project Velsertunnel 2015
Project Velsertunnel 2017!?
Project Summary Project: Short description: Client: Contractor: Contract: Contract value: Renovation of the Velsertunnel, a tunnel below the North Sea Canal Due to the small clearance outline of the tunnel, high trucks regularly drive stuck in the Velsertunnel Therefore this clearance outline has to raise with 12cm. In the same time all the obsolete installations (such as the ventilation and fire extinguishing system) and road pavement have to be replaced. Rijkswaterstaat (Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and the Environment) Combination Hyacint (BESIX, Dura Vermeer, SPIE, Croon) Design & Construct + 7 years of Maintenance 80 million

BIM Goals, Tools & Projectteam 3 MAIN GOALS of the 3D Building Information Model ( BIM ) Generate geometric data & as-built Visualization & Simulation Integrated design Geometric coordination - information and communication tool - control interferences between different disciplines TOOLS Create software: AutoCAD (Plant) 3D, MX Civil 3D, Revit, (so no IFC exchange) Coördination software: Navisworks Support software: Unity, Recap, SE database: Relatics Application tool: ibim connector Neanex // IN COORPORATION WITH INFRANEA
BIM Geometric data & as-built Be the point of contact, to avoid multiple information flows or doubts. DESIGN // innovation Mapping of existing environment by use of POINT CLOUD MEASUREMENTS; CONSTRUCTION // efficiency Up-to date Geometric data Improves execution process; OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE // client satisfaction Correct as-built model smooth maintenance activities (and future renovations)

BIM Geometric as built Point cloud measurement
BIM Visualization & Simulation Increase the insight and boost the confidence of the client, future stakeholders and construction partners. DESIGN // client satisfaction CCTV visualization generate viewpoints optimize positioning Roadway simulation CONSTRUCTION // efficiency Simulation of construction activity (4D) OPERATIONS & MAINTENANCE // innovation Emergency exercise with oculus rift!?

BIM + SE Conclusion & Lessons learned 3D Model ( BIM ) + Systems Engineering = Building Information Management ( integrated BIM ) Perfect tools for Design, Construct & Maintenance contracts Same model can be used No loss of information LESSONS LEARNED: Keep it simple! Somebody has to keep it up to date!! Level of Detail SE-tree Level of Detail BIM model Design, Construct and Maintenance have different needs and require not always the same level of detail for both SE and BIM Everyone has to collaborate! Attract people with visualization and geometric information How to promote proactivity and punish untrustworthiness of construction partners!? CIRCLE OF TRUST» Based on # logins, the time a clash isn t solved, attandances at meetings, Relatics is watching you BIM & SE are only tools! one-to-one communication is still needed (meetings, no email)
BIM helps to ask questions earlier, but do not solves them!! SE helps not to forget questions. Johannes Anrijs janrijs@besix.com
